Boost Controller Issues
I seem to be having some problems with boost in my S4 now that I installed a TurboXS HPBC. Before I installed the controller, I was boosting about 4.5-5 psi. It felt normal while building boost. When I installed the controller I set it the way TurboXS says to, which they stated is about an additional 1-3 psi. When I open the car up, I feel the boost come on a little faster and stronger but at about 3 psi it sounds as if the bov opens and closes extremely fast and the boost bounces between 1-2 psi until I let off the gas. Can someone please help me out. Is there something wrong with the controller or is it just not set right?

You're sure you hooked up the hoses correctly? Isn't there an arrow on the controller? I've used their standard boost controller, it looks similar. What you are describing sounds like a boost leak though. |
Yes, they are hooked up right. I double checked them. I checked for leaks to see if anything blew off, but I ziptied the connections and the one I couldn't get to is still connected.

are you sure your blowoff valve isn't leaking? What blowoff do you have?
|
It is a blitz dd bov. I don't know if the bov is leaking because the car was idling at 17-20 vacuum before the controller (small leak somewhere) and still is. I tightened down on the adjustment screw and it did the same thing. I have that thing almost all the way in (almost 18psi)!

Wonder if the wastegate actuator/spring is toast.. How hard is it to manually actuate the wastegate?
|
im going to say you need to adjust it , dont rely on turboxs's specs.
|
Well, I think i figured it out. I have an air pump that lets me set the pressure before i turn it on, so I checked the wastegate and it is working fine. I decided to hook the pump up directly to the controller and when I turned it on, the two adjusting screws leaked. The coarse screw cannot come out all the way so I adjusted the controller as best as I could and sealed the screws with red rtv. I will find out if it worked tomorrow because it takes 24hrs for the rtv to cure.

My old TurboXS standard MBC failed on me. It was a piece, I tossed it.
|
Nope. The controller still doesn't work. I'm returning and getting my money back. Thanks for all the fast responses though.
