best point to hook engine hoist to on 13b

hey guys i was just wonder what is the most secure point on the 13b to hatch the hook and chain from an engine hoist i got a s 5 t2

On the engine...seriously!..I kid you not Kid.
there are 2 hoops on the engine. One at the front, driver's side, just above the CAS and one at the Trans,on the transmission/engine bolt, near the passenger side.

(why ya yankin your s5 TII..ahem,I need parts!)

im not ripping it out, i bought an s4 shell that im putting it in lol do you got pics of the locations?

tuscanidream 12-01-13 03:47 PM

How about the 2 lift hoops?! lol

One is Sticking up from the upper intake manifold, the other is to the right of the alternator and part of a large bracket that holds the intercooler, attaches to the 2 rotor housings. NA should be similar. If you can't find these life points, have some one else do the swap for you.

It might have been removed. Use a chain, bolt it down to the rear of the UIM and another source towards the front that is strong and there you go.

They are extremely handy. I have a bunch. I usually keep them off the motor to clean it up and then attach it when I need to pull the motor.

Undo the top bolt of the trans(the bolt by the wiper motor,on the top, that holds the trans to the engine) and put a chain on there with some BIG washers,so the chain won't slip off that bolt.
Look at your Front Iron,by the power steering bracket, above where the CAS is,you will see a threaded "bump" for a bolt.Use that area to attach another bolt with the chain on it.

kidS4 12-01-13 06:25 PM

and that place on the uim where the hook bolts bolts to the firewall side of the manifold right?

misterstyx69 12-01-13 10:21 PM

here is a link to an ebay engine, you can see the hoop behind the upper manifold, and also beside the alternator.

On My S5 I took them off,so I used what I told you to use in my previous answer. The engine came out like butter.

well..sort of..
If you wanna describe what the crap was oozing out of the Ripped Plastic bag I had over the tail stock!
That's what I get for being lazy and not finding that "tail stock plug" I had.(front section off an old driveshaft).

Tail stock plug? Soft and yellow? He means the yoke. Get it? Like an egg yoke because it's...

Don't bother tipping your waitress, she'll hate you anyway.
