What bearings?

RETed 11-02-05 01:23 PM

Call them and tell them they are DUMBFUCKS!

BTW, who is this shop so we can all avoid them!

The bearings (rotors at least) have a bendable tab that locks them in place.
It's just a matter of bending the tab back or pounding them out from the opposite end - no biggie.

You talking wheel bearings? If so, see the Mazdatrix website and their FAQ.

Or are you talking about the ujoints on the driveshaft?

Even wheel bearings are not pinned. :)

Bearings on the u-joints are not pinned either. :)

Good try!

Did they say "STAKED" or "PINNED"

Turbo II-FB 11-02-05 03:34 PM

they sai pinned and its mazmax.com they are here in houston. I argued with them too and they were pretty persistant.

WonkoTheSane 11-02-05 04:25 PM

What bearings are you trying to get replaced?

HAILERS 11-02-05 04:31 PM

Oil metering pump bearing.

Turbo II-FB 11-02-05 06:32 PM

Good.. Then you can follow Ted's advice (which I've quoted here to save you scrolling up)... Don't forget step one. Makeing sure they know exactly how retarded they are for not knowing that the easist bearings to change are, in fact, easy to change :)

Turbo II-FB 11-02-05 06:45 PM

yea I have no idea how I can change them with my tools. I'm calling them tomorrow and asking for there "rotary tech" and if he says that again I'll stick it to them.

Turbo II-FB 11-02-05 07:26 PM

is there a write up on how to do it your self and what tools are needed

HAILERS 11-02-05 09:41 PM

If you download the series five fsm and go to the ENGINE section, you'll find the procedure and the Mazda tool. Make your own tool. Press 'em out/press 'em in. Align the locking tab prior to pressing 'em in.

hah, what a bunch of hacks... a NAPA machine shop did mine perfectly and they thought the stationary gears were a transmission part

i did my rotor bearings on a cheap shop press

Turbo II-FB 11-02-05 10:16 PM

are these "napa machine shop nation wide?

Turbo II-FB 11-02-05 10:17 PM

how much did they charge

HAILERS 11-02-05 11:18 PM

NAPA is a nationwide outfit. I'd check out the web pages and find one near you. I've only bought one item ever from them myself. A Bosch wide band sensor.

There should be a automotive machine shop somewhere near you. Ask around at Pepboys, Autozone etc. They all have access to some machine shop that does that type work.
