Basic Stuff
Hey everyone!
I want to learn basic auto mechanics and stuff [Just got a tool kit to play with my FC] I see a lot of stuff on the forums like CAI, SV3, S5. Where can I learn the basics about my car, and stuff for mods?
I hate goin to the shop and asking a bajillion questions, and getting ripped off at the same time.

or download the service manual and go through it, trying to understand how things work before you try to modify it. you dont even know what you are modifying if you dont...

I hate to say it, but all the basics are covered in the FAQ. From acronyms to common questions to the service manuals. It's all there. Also, the Archives is a great source of information.
If it's basic car info you are after, try http://www.howstuffworks.com

I did 5 things.
1. Read the FAQ
2. Downloaded and read the entire FSM, several times
3. Bought a Hayne's manual (RX7 and Electrical ones) and read them, several times
4. Read every thread worth reading on the forum
5. When I couldn't find an answer on the recent threads, I searched for answers
When I bought my car the only thing I knew how to do was change oil and fill up the washer fluid. Since then, I've done every single piece of work to my car short of rebuilding the engine. That I didn't do because I didn't have the time, tools, or space needed to do it.
