Balljoint boots
I am looking for just two lower front ball joint boots for 1990 Fc. N/A. Any ideas on were to get some with out having to get the whole arm?
the whole are is cheap from victoria british
But victoria british charges like $20 shipping/handling (at least to IL), i would try mazda, it'll probably be cheaper than buying a whole new one, and you won't have to deal with taking a boot off a joint. I don't know if anybody else sells just the boot.
Just the boot huh... Well I know the ball joints themselves aren't replaceable on the s5, i kinda doubt teh boots are eithre.
if the boots have been torn for a while, then they probably have moisture and grit in there already and it'll continue to get worse over time... like he said victoria british has them cheap and a stealership won't cut you any deals of their own... i'm saving up for ball joints and tie rod ends from VB myself.

yeah i just replaced my tie rod ends and ball joints. the difference in the way the new parts feel compaired the the old was amazing. parts america (autozone) sells them too. but they are more expensive from there than victoria british.
well heres why i need them. I was taking the steering knuckle off of the control arm and had to heat the bolt that pinched the ball joint. When i did that i toasted the boot. I took a good look at the boot and there is a pinch ring you remove and the boot comes off. Not really Rocket Science. It is an S5 arm which means it a solid balljoint+control arm combo. when i took the boots of i sealed them up with some plastic wrap to keep moisture and contaminats out. Any ideas?
so u are saying i can get the new boots from VB? and if so do any of you have a catalog with the part number so i can order them up asap
Suspension.com says they've got replaceable ball joint boots for the S5's
http://www.suspension.com/mazda.htm |
These are the energy suspension boots are they not? Do they still use the metal ring to hold them on or do you just plop them on them crush them in? Have you ever used them before?
The reason i am skeptic is i had a set of these with the same part number before and they were nowhere near the same thing. |
Yea theyre energy suspension boots, I haven't used them though.
on a side note, anyone ever get sick of working on old cars? the bushings, the dry plastic, the rust :)
dude just get them from VB and put them in their easy as hell to put it dont be a damn idiot
First off BigDICK energy suspension boots won't work there is no slot for the ring to seal the joint. (sound like u sealed enough joints to understand) Second we are not talking about a balljoint, we are talking about the fucking boot. Third I don't have a VB catalog that would be why i asked for the part number brainiac. Fourth, I live in MI it takes a weekto two weeks for anything to get shipped to me, I want to be positive i am getting the right part. Finnaly Fifth, get the thumb out of your ass before u sound like an IDIOT all the time.
hah...
call them up... i'd bet they have decent customer service. the only boot replacement i saw in the VB catalog was for the tie rod end but it's possible they have the ball joint boot as well... didn't really look that hard. maybe try atkins rotary too, they've helped me find random stuff before. |
kewl thanks for the tip

Save your self the phone call. Here is the VB link
