Bad Driveshaft???

OK, so I think that I narrowed down my clicking noise to the U-joint... I think it is bad.... also, I think the front diff. mount is bad too because I hear a clunck sometimes during take off..... But now, during acceleration, whenever the driveshaft starts to spin, underload, the click starts... when driving the car with shift boot and everything completely removed I can literally see the driveshaft move forward a little bit, I think that is why it is clicking it must be hitting metal.....

Anyway, how do I check both, the driveshaft U-joint and the diff. mounts? And does this problem happen often? I did a search but only found a couple threads, neither of which had clear answers...... Thanks for the help..

Crawl under the car and see if the driveshaft has any play in it, try to push it forward/back and turn it, it should be nice and solid and not have any slack. As for the diff mount, you can try to push up on the end of the driveshaft, and if it moves up at all, chances are it's toast.

As a U-joint starts to fail, it first looses it's grease, then the needle bearings start to wear and make slack & excess clearance.
The extra wear sometimes allows the shaft to wobble off center giving vibration.
Then the needles start to rub & bind on each other.
As they bind & pop free from binding, you can hear a "tink" sound that rings the tubular shaft.
This can usually be heard just as you start moving.

Visual inspection shows rust deposits near where you would normally see grease residue.

Something in the clutch- maybe the pilot bearing?

would that also make a popping sound when braking to a complete stop?

I think its the u-joint.. because mines did the same thing because the diff mounts were frigged so when underload, the shit would move forwards and backwards hitting shit... Thats where the clicking noise came from... Well, I am looking for a driveshaft now... Where can I get one (preferebly one w/ a replaceable u-joint) and diff mounts... Remember I need all, but only have like $4-500 on me right now.... thanks...
