SirCygnus 02-08-07 11:42 PM

makes the car fugly. i did it. turned out super crappy.

JWteknix 02-08-07 11:57 PM

my tII is flat black b/c i was tired of it being differrent colors i think it looks good in my opinion srry no pix

FastCompany 02-09-07 12:04 AM

it is kinda difficult to make it look good if you are just going to use a spray baum (spray can)

go to advanced and buy a professional style top feed sprayer. go to an automotive paint store and get the paint you need. sand down the car and do any dent repair you can and then prime the vehicle with a good quality primer. then just spray away.

its really not as simple as i just explaind, there are a few steps i left out cause i dont wanna write a book. go to a barns and noble and check out some literature on painting automobiles.

i have seen a flat/ satin black finish on a fc and it looks cool with the rite wheel combo.

id like to see one in hot rod style, flat black with the really cool hand painted red and white pinstripes, and some red steel wheels with chrome centercaps and fat ass whitewalls.

do what ya wanna do man, post pics, im sure it will look awsome!

good luck

chris

I could have done my car in flat black blackhawk paint for free, problem is it just looks like crap and is hard to keep clean. If your only doing it to be different then do it, it would make the prep work a lil easier too but be prepared for your car to look like ass

tuns0ffun65 02-10-07 05:45 PM

mine is an s4 its only half primered though
heres a pic

ive primered alot of my cars. its all in how long you take sanding it down before you paint, it can come out really nice or like ass. jus ttake your time and it will lood good

stevensimon 02-10-07 06:56 PM

thats pretty bad ass but you should only be running the left headlight yellow. what front bumper is that?

Gah! It may just be me but I think the paint on the FCs in this thread look ugly. The one halfway decent looking one looks exactly like a car with good primer. 'Course, I have seen a lot worse. It depends how your car looks currently. Why not post a pic of what you have so you can get better tips. If your paint is a little faded in some areas, I'd say no. If it looks like my first FC... hmm, the (original factory, faded) paint was pretty horrific on that car but I'm still not sure.

If it were me I'd leave it alone, whatever you have. Primer any bare metal to stop rust. A good paint job is too expensive, or else too expensive and time consuming if you do it yourself. OTOH, it's easier once you have experience and the right equipment. I went down that road before and I can say paint and body work costs too much money and time to be worth it. I'm gonna upgrade my car before I get around to fixing my scratches and dings and what not. For now, once I have time, I have everything to clay bar and wax it to keep the existing paint protected.

JWteknix 02-10-07 10:36 PM

flat black ftw

Ricer240sx 02-10-07 11:17 PM

Flat black=cool

primer=the loose!!!!

OGFC 02-10-07 11:23 PM

I too, will be going this route. Probably will add some clear coat designs as well.

DREYKO 02-11-07 12:04 AM

why the hell would you only want one headlight yellow? ^from the first page.

JWteknix 02-11-07 12:05 AM

they both look yellow to me

Ah mate if you put clear over something with a matt finish, its not going to be matt anymore.

JWteknix 02-11-07 12:15 AM

yeah itll turn to gloss

eriksseven 02-11-07 02:01 AM

I've got a flat-black s4 with an s5 body-conversion. Someone already posted a pic of it on the 1st page. I used Krylon Semi-flat spray-paint and just used my "krylon king" technique to get the look right. ;)
