Another overheating problem

My 1987na has been overheating so I replaced the temperature gauge. When I replaced it I noticed that the bottom half of the old temperature gauge was broken off and I couldn't find it. What are the chances that the bottom piece is lodged somewhere in the engine blocking the flow of antifreeze? That would SUCK! Has this happened to anyone before? My car is still overheating. So far I replaced the 2 radiator hoses the caps, the temp gauge. the catalytic converter, and the pre cats.

any input would be great

Go out to your car and remove the thermostat completly. Go drive the car. Does it overheat still. If it does that eliminates the thermostat. If it just runs in the lower 1/8th of the gauge go get a Mazda thermostat. Are you losing coolant to the overflow tank?I doubt that that little tit off the sensor could cause overheating.
