All lights gone!!! :(

It happenned to me last night. I get in my car and my dash, console, and headlights don't come on (headlights come on with high beams though). I'm thinking great, attack of the gremlins so I drive off and some dude pulls up to me at a light and tells me that I have no taillights. I pull over and it looks like the man was right. ****!!! I drive home hoping that a cop doesn't get behind me and notice. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet but aside from fuses where should I check first?

That is really odd. If your highbeams come on, it means your betting power at least. I would check for a short or a misplaced ground wire somewhere in the dash. I know that on some cars I've worked on(not just 7s) that if you did not plug one connector in to oh say the cuation lights, that the dash wouldn't light up. Have you installed any stereo equipment or anything lately?

Mazda has one common fuse for the tail lights and illumination lights. It is in the top row, second from the left (in the fuse box under the dash -10A). Unfortunately, the wire goes straight from the fuse box to the cluster switch. So, unless you have a short somewhere blowing the fuse, your cluster headlight switch is bad. Of course, your switch could be bad because a ground is burning it up ....
