AFM's Q's with a possible swap...

Is it posible to swap out the maf from a s5 and use it in an s4? I really hate the maf in the s4 it really screws up the intake design i have, is the ecu gonna read the s5 different or will it be ok? is it still a "flapper syle" maf or is it something normal like a stright through tunnel with a ait?

They are swappable but the S5 has a smaller cross section if I recall. Just get an AFM adapter and leave it alone. Most of the "gods" concur that the S5 one sucks. :) It was made to that design because it was cheaper not better. ;)

Santiago's post may have been a little decieving. They are swappable, but it takes a bit of re-wiring to the harness plug. Its not a direct plug and play. The S5 is also a cone style, where the airflow has to push back, and go around a cone inside the AFM. The is more of a resctriction than the flapper door style S4, plus as he mentioned, the inlet area is smaller as well. Do a search, there have been a bunch of good thread about the subject. Basically your best bet is to stick with the S4 MAF.

Yeah you have to ghetto rig wire it up. Its not worth it at all. Soon I will be flow testing them agains each other. Hopefully I can get the numbers while there is still an S5 in town that uses the AFM :D Thank god for microtech!
