I had a leak in my compressor, replaced it with a reman one of the same type (sanden, matches the old one) and it's not using the same connector? Am I able to just splice the connection together or am I missing something??

so long as their both the 1 wire connector you should be fine by swapping the connectors. if there were any more then that I would make sure you got the right compressor.

it just sends a 12 volt signal to the clutch, connect it however you feel like without leaving a bare bit of metal from the connection.
