Geeezzz people, get it straight. The RB presilecer that he says he is getting will hook up to the stock split air pipe to provide the backpressure to operate the 5+6 ports.

Anyways, I say kudos for going for all out free flowing! Plug your ears, its gonna be fun... or loud.

I had an Apex-I N-1 on my (dare I say it) 95 Accord 2dr.. It was constructed well, and I agree the welds were pretty.

BUT- I ordered the two knockoffs for my 7 from speedycarparts.com and they looked identical and sounded just as good... Now check in 10 years and the difference may be noticeable, I don't know...

well i wouldn' t count on that sutup having enough backpressure to open s4 ports but niether does my setup so screw it. lol just get a electric airpump. And also although some cheapo mufflers aren't bad i wouldn't trust a cheapo muffler to last with rotary exhaust, so not a bad choice with the muffler but i woulda gone with a cheapo first and if i liked it and it didn't last then get a better one of the same design but better quality

well i think teh fact that i have a presilencer and an 18 inch resonator added to teh muffler which has a silencer would give me at least that 1.8psi needed to open the 5th and 6th ports.

Backpressure on any car (disregard the 5/6ports opening) is bad. From piston to rotary, anytime you have backpressure, you're losing hp/tq.

The reason you want an optimized pipe size is to have the maximum volume of exhaust gasses moving at the highest velocity speed. That's why you can't go too big, but also why you can't go too small on the pipe.

The huge muffler doesn't look too bad as long as it sits flush with the bumper. That gap makes it look really bad though.

Kinda. On a piston car with a big cam and lots of overlap (and maybe a high overlap rotary?) the backpressure helps keep the combustion chamber from being scavenged which is just a waste of fuel although it keeps EGTs lower.

well at least it is a quality muffler, and i like tanabe's products.
that said, it is a lot of money to spend on a muffler like that.

Wrong. Many piston engines will lose power and even be damaged from to little back pressure. the valves need backpressure to seat properly. And a two stroke can burn holes in a piston from running no backpressure. But, on a rotary your right they don't require backpressure and love to breath mainly do to more exhaust pulses than a piston engine. I run 2.5 inch pipe from the header back to racing beat catback, that exuast and a cone filter dropped 1.1 seconds off my 1/4 mile time, but i lost the 5/6 port which i hooked up a seat lumbar pump to be activated by a switch.

I love how many people hate on exhausts that are angled and the such (like Apex'i N1, which I have in dual form), but think the RB exhaust is a God send... all these same people think that Honda's are from Hell... how does nobody think that they sound exactly the same. There's a guy around here that has an N/A S5 with the RB exhaust, and it sounds exactly like my friends Integra GSR with Apex'i N1...

Check out mine. Same size, maybe even 4.5 inches.

Man those are pretty far under the car. Ive seen another NA that had a single pipe about 3 or 4 inches under, as in not flush with the bumber. His bumber melted.

jacobcartmill, are you talking about the true dual setup RB makes? If you are, that system is beautiful and I applaud your good taste.

Yes the dual true dual setup would be good for a n/a, but a dual setup for a TII would be a waste of power.

Here's mine, and I've yet to see any exhaust that I think looks better... or sounds better.

Since it's a namebrand muffler I'm gonna go along and say that it's not that bad. If it was a 3A racing POS from PepBoys, then I'd say no.

Some type of rear bumper add on could help make those look more 'in place'. As flat and short as the rear end is on an FC I like seeing a rear valance of some sort on the back to help hide the canisters and let just the tips poke out.

I don't think big tips look bad at all on an rx7. I don't know what it is but on honduhs they look just dumb but on our cars (maybe because they aren't econo boxes) they look great! I would almost rather a bigger tip muffler than the stock, I think it is more proportional to the body.

I like the stock system for sound and looks. A little louder wouldn't be too bad, but I like to be able to hold conversation in the car. If I want to hear it, I'll open the window.
