Which is a better car in all aspects. Such as MAINTANENCE is a big issue for the FC, but a well modded FC vs a well modded S14....which would be better? Im contemplating because i am expecting a child and even tho the FC can fit 4 with rear seats, the S14 would be more of a reliable car? Its hard because i still want to keep the hobby of modifying cars but also want to be a responsible father as well. Any opinions on this matter?

Don't get me wrong, I love the FC, and in fact at one time I owned both a 10AE and an S14. If you are looking for a USEABLE back seat go with the S14, it will be less maintainance, generally cheaper, and more spacious on the inside than the FC. S14 is definitely a better family car.

But how close are the FC and the S14 in terms of performance wise? I know the S14 is way better for drifting thats no question but in terms of everything...i might be trading my FC for a S14 but its so hard to do...so i just want to make sure i am making the right choice lol.

well are you planning on doing the engine swap for the s14? Because a turbo FC will smoke a 240sx in almost all categories stock-for-stock.

the FC will out handle the s14 without a doubt. S14 is newer so it will probably be in better condition and other stuff besides the engine won't need work as soon. I've driven an s14 and they handle like my 00' corolla, and are about as fast as a stock non-turbo FC. If you want a backseat though get the s14, the 2+2 are useless and I would not want to put my baby is such a small car.

what is so different about the handling on both cars? and if the fc can handle better than the s14...shouldnt the fc be a drift machine and not vise versa?

The FC handles better when it has traction. When you don't have traction... you don't have handling... you're just sliding along a path.

s14's are cheap to maintain and upgrade, the swaps are cheap, parts are easy to find. basically its cheaper to mod.

Handling is crisper in the FC. It's a lighter, more balanced car with, in my opinion, better suspension geometry. The car was designed around being a sports car with performance among the upper rungs of the "what's important" developement ladder.

However, for a building platform, the S14 is going to be better to start with. You'll be able to get more reliable power for less money...at the expense of having the car that ricer-poseurs step up to when they wreck their tyte civic.

But, if you're comparing these cars with where to put a child-seat in mind, you're a moron of remarkable magnitude. Grow up.

so im guessing i should lean towards getting an s14 rather than an FC...since i expect to have a baby coming soon...plus it would save me lots in repairs and maintanence. If some1 can prove me wrong otherwise...i will have to sell the 7 =(

1) Neither are good cars to carry a baby in. End of story.
2) If you think how well a car drifts = how well a car handles...i feel sorry for you
3) Any modified car will generally require more upkeep than a stock car, expect problems with either car.
4) You'll have to swap the engine in the s14 just to get it on the same starting ground as the tII. So there you've already spent a couple grand most likely.

Verdict: Buy a real family car if you're worried about carrying a baby around, and keep the other as a weekend/hobby car. The last thing you need is to drift you and your baby off a cliff or into a wall.

yes i am going to drift around with my kid in the car? are u stupid? why do people always make assumptions? I am currently looking for a winter car to drive around in and keepin the FC (or s14) as a last resort car if anything. But even tho it will be a last resort car, i would still like to know more about both cars and that is why i am posting this thread in the forum. ask questions before you assume. thanks. and to those that are saying that i am stupid for even thinking of either car, i am assuming u are the ones that are in the mid 40s that have no logical thinking and blurt out whatever comes to your mind first (oh this guy is immature for even thinking of keepin the fc or gettin an s14 with a baby) before u even ask the important questions that maybe could have been answered if you asked. and thank you to the ones that are just answering the questions that i have asked, much appreciated.

the swaps for 240's will run you $2000 just for the engine/transmission and all the other accessories needed to get it to run. Parts are alittle cheaper but thats it, and I've done both the sr swap and a 13bt swap and the 13bt swap is easier (thats if you don't swap the whole drivetrain).

ya i would do the swap maybe 2yrs down the road when i am more financially stable. i would keep most of it stock because i would want a more reliable car when the baby arrives.

your compairing a car that was designed in the late 80s vs a car designed in the 90s. the 240 is a piston car. engines are plentiful and cheap for that car. the chassis is stiffer. the car is better overall, especially considering its a s4. i hate to break it, but s4s are even less relabile than s5s, if thats possible. keep in mind problems such as that they like to catch on fire. get the 240, and u wont kill yourself once a month.

get a mini-van for the family and keep the FC to rip when you want to. or even a SUV on the side. Don't try and make any sports car double as both. Especially if your going to modify it.

My friend just dropped 6800 in his 240 for a mild modified SR swap done right every step of the way. I'm gonna let the topic go though, and say that if you're buying a winter family car as well look very closely at everything Subaru makes. My Legacy treats me very well.

i don't have the funds to get a minivan. and that is why if i sell the fc i would trade it for a 240 so i don't put too much money into transportation. i need to save for an apt. and all the things that comes with expecting a baby. i wish i could get a minivan, i would most definiety get a siena but i don't have the funds for such a van. and if i would modify the 240? yes i would but not till i can get another reliable car. the only mods i would do would be rims and suspensions. not any heavy performance mods. need to keep the car in a nice safe running condition.

What kind of retard would even consider taking an already sport-inspired automobil, tweaking the suspension into something that will undoubtedly make the ride stiffer, and then slapping an infant into it's back seat which was never at any time designed with such a use as a consideration?

Odds are if you don't have the funds to pick you up propper transportation, then you should have kept your pants zipped.
