87 T11-bad Hesitation At 3600rpm
Just purchased an 87 t11 and it has bad hesitation at 3600 rpm. I feels almost like hitting fuel cut but I know it's not because it doesn't even reach full boost by then. Could it be the TPS? Can someone please help me?

There's been so many threads on this its not funny. TRY SEARCHING FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!

HAHA even the guy with 36 posts is screaming search!
|
What can I say, I'm a reader.

By the way that thread didn't help a damn bit they were talking about NAs. Read my post mine is TURBO FEELS LIKE FUEL CUT. Ever felt a hesitation that bad? Gimme a break for cryin out loud.
|
Turbo or n/a theyre all the same fixes.
|
You lack an orifice in the pressure sensor line from the intake manifold.
|
Ok let me reprhase this, when I floor it as soon as it hits 3600 under some boost it's just like basically the engine almost cuts completely out I just unhooked the TPS out of curiosity and didn't do a damn thing, still does it. What next?

I said it once, I'll say it again: TRY SEARCHING FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!
|
I did, nothing helps, instead of bashing the thread why don't you give me sme advice that's what we're here for right?
|
Have you added the extra grounding straps, like I'm sure you read about when you did a seach?
|
Guys, are you actually reading his post before you give some smart ass reply like "Use the search button." He is not having the normal 3800 rpm hesitation. He is hitting a brick wall at 3600 rpm.
It sounds like your secondary injectors aren't coming on for some reason. I'm sure someone else can give you some reasons why they wouldn't be coming on. |
If it feels like it's hitting a brick wall....then it's probably the O2 sensor not being grounded. It grounds to the exhaust and the exhaust grounds itself to the car through a strap on the passenger side muffler. If this has been removed, more than likely this will cause your symptoms. I would check that first, mine did the same thing at 3,800 rpms. Can't Auto-X that way. Also add some grounds. Meaty ones to the car. The more the merrier. Good luck hope this helps.
|
If it makes you feel any better I'm having the same prob. with my 10th AE. I can't even rev over about 3700 rpm. :(

Yeah like the dude said it won't even rev over 3600rpm if you floor in neutral it cuts out. I have looked the O2 sensor before and there is just 1 small black wire coming from it. And about the secondaries how do I check if they are coming online or not?

Secondaries do not open if your just sitting in the driveway reving the engine. Therefore it does not sound like the problem is secondaries not opening. Understand????? Do you have the vacuum hose connected b/t the boost/pressure sensore and the intake manifold???? Have you ohm'd out the tps sensor yet. This is one of those cases where ohming the thing out could prove to be a positive thing. Run it thru it full range with a meter looking for opens and a lack of change while doing so. Secondaries only open if there is a load detected by the boost/pressure sensor and over 3800 rpm. Unless there is somehthing disconnected like the boost/pressure sensor. Car sounds like a real dog.
|
Ok my bad, just checked it doesn't hesitate in neural when I rev it. It does just fine, but still happens while driving, so pretty sure it's my secondaries?

Opening???? I don 't think injectors open. Are you refering to the 5th and 6th ports? Mine is a turbo.
no the secondary fuel injectors dude, he said sounds like their not injecting fuel over 3600rpm like they are supposed to. |
i had a problem like this b4. ended up my wire harness was fried and the secondary injectors where shot. but i wouldn't start teranig down your car automatically thinkin it's your injectors. start with the little things first.
check if thingy is in vacume hose like hailers said check for vacume leaks check tps sensor check map sensor check afm check/change spark plugs check/change spark plug wires check fuel pump change fuel filter (the one on the pump too) look for anything not plugged in (i left sumthing unplugged once) ect. ect if all that shit dont work then take off your upper manifold and see if there's sumthing wrong under there. aslo see if sumone has a x-tra ecu and other parts u can borrow to swap and test. u know shit like that. and take it slow and dont get fustrated. (fustration causes blindness, and arthritis) thread is getting too long now, gotta stop typing. one more thing do you have the diy fcd? if you wired up that thing wrong it can fuk shit up |
I don't have a FCD don't need one yet haven't even seen full boost since I got it. Now about the orifice in the vacuum hose I took it off, didn't have one in it, but the hose with one in it off my GTU still same thing. The car does have a different exhaust on it so I'll check the ground strap for the O2 sensor could be one reason. Getting ready to change the plugs doubt it's it but it could probably use them anyway.
|
i dont think a poorly grounded o2 would cause the car to choke that badly. well keep looking and good luck
