87 n/a VS. Roush stage 1 mustang V6
I have a question for you guys. my friend at school has a roush stage 1 mustang with a 3.8 liter V6 totally stock. He wants to race me soo bad but I'm not sure if I would win. I have a 87 n/a with gutted cats, headers, and a K&N air filter. Who would win???
What is the throttle body trick every one is talking bout?? |
Every V6 Mustang I've raced has lost to me...
But the V8's will tear you a new one. |
dre_2ooo is write you need a T11 to beat the V8's.
|
i pissed on a riced out 6cyl mustang, it was really funny because he thought his car was fast or something, i think those brospeed 5" tips gave him 30 hp........

Your RX-7 could kick a 6cyl mustang any day |
Just race the guy. It only matters who wins when there is money on the line.

Yep, I did a quick search on "roush stage 1 mustang V6" and several hits came up.
The Stage 1 on a V6 is just an exhaust package that added like 20hp - big deal. Stage 2 looks like some kinda suspension package. Stage 3 (for V8) looks like a built motor. Since we're talking basically about a V6 mustang with an exhaust, the NA should be able to smoke this car. -Ted |

I beat a 98 Mustang GT in the 1/8 mile, and another 96 GT on the street from 0-65. The newest body style is a different story. Stock 2001 GT pulled half a car on my from 60-100. A modded one walked on me pretty good. |
The V6 has 160 hp stock, so 180 max with the Roush package (I still have no clue why Jack Roush would put his name on a V6...but oh well). Having said that, the curb weight of thr V6 mustang is somewhere near 3700lbs. My g/f has a new V6 stang, and it is really sad. I have driven it, even opened it up before, and was left with a feeling of mediocrity. It pulls like a Mustang should.....like crap. Time your shifts right, don't burn rubber on launch, and you should be fine. Oh yeah, I have beaten 2 SN95 Gts, btw.

OOh OOh let me race him. I will show him what a TII can do. I am anxious to smoke something other than rice.

Tell me more about the IROC. With $6000 in mods, he should have killed you. All those things are about is launching, and straight line acceleration.

Thanks for all the info guys. Now i feel confident to race him and not look like a fool. Ya and I agree with you guys on why the hell there is a V6 roush even on the road.
|
the stock v6 mustangs have 145hp, 165 with the exhaust, 1999+ have 200hp v6 :)
you will beat his ass silly :) if you can drive good :) v8 stangs?? the 99+, shit, you dont need a TII, in the black n/a i had i could have a fender on 1999+ 4.6l GT's from 0-100mph :) |
You NA guys are living in some kinda dream world talking about beating up on the V8 mustangs.

For those who want to know:
The 96-98 mustangs with a 4.6(shitty ford motor) only put down about 180-195HP TO THE WHEELS 99-Present 4.6L mustangs only put down 211 HP at the wheels. This has been documented by several car enthusiast publications. Just some info to think about |
Any body out there want to give me any HP n/a tips?
|
ok you'll beat it. Lets put it this way, the v-6 mustang is such a peice of shit that my friend raced him in his 3.0l taurus and the taurus won. Just make sure to make the car as light as possible for the race, take out you spare tire, and any other things you can think of.
as far as getting just palin extra power, i read a post on here about advancing the timing by 20 degrees and it is supposed to give you an extra 20 hp or something. also make sure your fifth and sixth ports are working, if you cat is not stock. one trick i learned from a rx-7 book was to put a bag of ice over the intake manifold before the race. this is supposed to cool the air coming into the engine. And the colder the air the more power you will have. Just make sure you remove the bag of ice before the race. I have never tried this before so if you try let me know the results. |
