evileagle 04-15-04 04:21 AM

buy an RX-8 :)

SureShot 04-15-04 07:02 AM

Be glad you're not stuck with 3..

skunks 04-15-04 07:27 AM

just stick in a 6 gear set or replace your 4th and 5th gear with a larger ones to compensate.

Justbeatz03 04-15-04 10:03 AM

my goal is to beat an acura NSX first gear wise.... normally only people with 6 gears can do that...

91_fc 04-15-04 10:18 AM

wow. good luck. :)

Justbeatz03 04-15-04 10:30 AM

lol u dont think its possible to get this car to go faster then then the nsx fom 0-60? o ye of little faith, there is a way, i just have to find it.... (winthout a turbo)

My point is that most of the time when you have 6 gears, its because you have a lot of power under your hood... so is there a way to do it or not?

LMAO dude! WTF...you can only beat them with 6 gears!?!?!? I've seen plenty 5 speeds spank NSX's. Dude learn a little about cars before you attempt such a race.

Wankels-Revenge 04-15-04 10:42 AM

NSX? 6-Speed?
Are you in the right forum?

Justbeatz03 04-15-04 10:42 AM

So your telling me an 89 n/a could beat an nsx 0-60 without some major work?

Justbeatz03 04-15-04 10:43 AM

or without a better first gear shall i say...

sub9lulu 04-15-04 10:47 AM

...
let me guess ... u 13 ?

Justbeatz03 04-15-04 10:52 AM

no, 19.... how did you even get on hat subject, simple question that no one can answer... where can i get the parts to do this?

tweaked 04-15-04 11:15 AM

why not just swap you rear end gear? it's cheaper. and your not going to beat the NSX. you might out accelerate for a bit, but he's gonna shove it right up your a-hole.

Tofuball 04-15-04 12:15 PM

Tweaked is right, if you need to gear down and only care about the distance between gears, swap out the differential gear.

Oh yes, you're not beating that NSX unless you sabotage it thoroughly before hand. Or the driver is really, really drunk.

Take some consolodation that your car probably costs far less then a tenth the price of the NSX.

MaxJenius211 04-15-04 01:16 PM

I'm not sure why Overdrive quoted me.

The factors in this thread are all histerical.

sa22c_Drifter 04-15-04 01:18 PM

NSX? The NSX is an overpriced luxury that only people that really love the car waste money on. Is doable bro, even with the 5 gears.

There's so many 12 and 11 second TII's down here that would rape an NSX anyday.

SureShot 04-15-04 01:22 PM

15" wheels w/40 profile tires.

Weight reduction - lots of weight reduction - extreme weight reduction.
EG: no dash, no interior, no 2nd seat, no hatch, no sunroof, no hood, no headlights, no doors, etc..

Well, maybe keep the door shells with no glass..

Then go on a diet.

myR1 04-15-04 01:26 PM

buy one of them fancy HKS 6-speed trannies.

lol, yeah one of them sequential clucthless trannies that go for like 20g's lol pfft.

oakback 04-15-04 02:02 PM

are miata trannies 6 spd? I've heard on numerous occasions about swapping the guts of the miata tranny into an fc tranny shell.

yeah thats the easiest way to go 6speed, although there arent a lot of proven facts about the miata gears strength.

jgrts20 04-15-04 03:28 PM

ive heard of the miata 6-speed conversion, it in this forum somewhere. try a search!!

poor_red_neck 04-15-04 03:42 PM

Well.. the RX8 6 spd and the new miata 6 spd trannies are virtually the same aren't they?

I've heard of a guy putting a miata 6spd in his FB... but why?

Simply putting in a 6spd is NOT going to let you beat an NSX. 3rd gens have a hard time taking them stock.... so... yeah.

With the 6spd... you're just going to be shifting more often... (i.e. less actual accelerating).

Let's put it this way... a NSX runs what... 13.8 stock with street tires and a good driver.

There are like MAYBE 3 N/As on this site that go that fast... .and they aren't all that streetable.

And a 6spd isn't going to change any of that.

Digi7ech 04-15-04 04:18 PM

Dude you gotta SHIFT MAD QUICK YO!!! to be with teh TYTE Honduh NSEXXYYY!! ;)

a 6 Speed is just going to space your gearing closer together. It will DO NOTHING on a NA GTU. You WILL get beaten to a pulp.

Drop in a turbo engine and d some mods and keep the 5 speed TII tranny and you''' be set to hang with them or beat them.

ajsuper7 04-15-04 04:25 PM

seriously this is one of the worst questions ive read in a long time. na's do not go 'fast'. doesnt matter if you have an 8spd tranny your not going to beat a nsx or even come close without a turbo, bottom line.

OverDriven 04-15-04 04:27 PM

You want my serious advice? Your best bet without spending a ton is to get an N2O system. Make sure you also run an upgraded fuel pump and SAFC for safety. Good luck. And to all those who are acting like the NSX is god...its not that fast.

-Joe

My Junx 04-15-04 04:45 PM

a better choice would be to get a level 10 auto tranny and a turbo engine. that tranny will get you moving quicker and shift faster than any person can

truespin88 04-15-04 06:22 PM

You want my real advice on how to make your FC beat an NSX?

Take the FC apart, sell the pieces.
Buy the pieces of a Suzuki Hayabusa. Rebuild the Hayabusa with Mazda and RX-7 on it.
Whip the ass of anything that challenges you. The only thing fast enough to keep up with a Hayabusa... is a Hayabusa.

Sorry, that's not why people have 6 speeds. 6 speeds come in two types, for the most part: 4 speed double overdrive, or 5 speed single overdrive. Generally, 4 speed-double overdrive cars have more power, letting them overcome the difference in the ratios between gears. The reason for having more speeds is to keep the engine in it's powerband for longer. If you have a very narrow powerband (i.e. S2K), you want lots of gears. Cars like this tend not to have rediculous amounts of power, or they're not streetable. Take, on the other hand, a '70 LS6 Chevelle. Figure it's got a little work done, and it's pushing about 500 hp to the wheels. If it's a drag car, it's probably running a 2 speed Powerglide. Yes. 2 speed. Why? Because that car's powerband covers about 4k RPMs, and it has the torque to overcome a large gear split.

Justbeatz03 04-16-04 03:22 PM

damn...

Justbeatz03 04-16-04 03:23 PM

so is the miata 6 speed the winner in this thread or just the top gear? cause i still have to change it from auto to stick, id like to do both @ the same time to save money...
