5 Interior Beeps....continuous till i shut the car off....

I am new to the forums....i just bought a 1987 S4 TII... i got it fairly cheep and now some stuff is going bad... The car starts right up, but after about 5-10 minutes of driving 5 beeps start to go off...its beeps 5 times then stops for about one second, then starts again and keeps it up until i shut the car off...any ideas?? Anything to do with powersteering going out or new steering wheel??:Wconfused :wallbash:

And i also have a 1991 S5 street ported rx7 4 sale, ill look for the for sale listings and post it there....its the one in the pic. any questions on this just message me...

Thanks.

Remove the steering wheel. Align the two arrows on the turn signal sensor. Reinstall the steering wheel.

That has fixed it on the two cars I have seen it on.

Would the sensor effect how my power steering feels?? And is that a quick and easy fix??

Get the wheels pointed straight before you take the wheel off. Once it is off, you will see a plastic ring with two dogears that spins inside of another ring. The dogears insert into the back of the steering wheel. There will be an arrow pointing down at the top of the outer ring. The inner ring has an arrow that will point up to the other arrow when it is aligned properly with the wheels straight. One thing to check, though I don't remember if it is limited or not. If the inner ring will only go around so many times, then make sure you split the rotations in half and line the arrow up there. In other words, if the inner ring comes to a lock, turn it the opposite direction and count the turns until you reach the lock on the other side. Divide those turns in half and use that to get to the middle and align the arrow there.

I don't remember if the inner ring hits a lock or not. It has been some time since I had to do this. I just remember the gosh awful annoying beeps.

Some time capsules...

2nd thread has the turn signal cancel switch calibration, which is what fixed it for me. It does have limits on the inner ring so make sure you center it in its travel before aligning the arrows.

What about a 91 convertible with Airbags. I think the airbag cars must be different because I can't seem to figure mine out. It first started to 5beeps when it rained, then it did it non stop all the time, now it goes through one set of beeps about every hour. Everything is lined up and I took apart the white thing (turn signal cancel) and cleaned it. The only other thing on the shaft is the spring for the airbag but is the angle sensor built into that???

my only experience was with S4's. I don't know if it is the same with S5's.
