2nd Gen Mil-Spec Harness
Just to see a show of hands, how many of you guys would be interested in a high quality mil-spec harness for your 2nd gens? :egrin:

What specifically makes it "mil spec"? |
Just the emissions side, the wire will be mil spec for the higher durability to heat and other ingress interference. ive sourced quite a few of the oem plugs including the ECU plugs. If the demand is high enough ill make some prototypes.

Im trying to help people here, im not asking who the biggest troll on the forum is. These would be hand made from the highest quality wire and hardware i can get for a decent price for you guys. not some ebay junk and im sure way cheaper than oem |
I'm interested.
In a few months I'm going to build a set of harnesses for my car, but it never hurts to see how others do it. Stock ECU only? What about custom orders? |
Im sure we can do almost anything, as long as we source the connectors. I will do haltech for sure.

So you are only redoing emissions related items in the engine harness? Still confused as to what milspec is.
Anyways, redone custom wiring harnesses will sell. These cars have awful wiring. Girlfriends car is down due to engine harness. I'll need mine redone too. Also need 1 more alternator harness and a fuel pump rewire as Rotary Related closed before I could purchase any more from them. |

im going to eventually have my entire car rewired, haltech, and barrel plug for engine bay gotta pay to play clokker Lloyd |
Refc... i have a box... and i mean a box of bulkhead connectors. And spools of wire... idk how much cost your expecting in starting constructing these harnesses. I do have an idea how much this stuff costs lol.. i have lesser density qd connectors but i havent dug through the box and seen matches. But a proper mil/motorsport spec harness is unbeatable. I plan on building one when i do my engine swap. So i have a bunch of excess that i will never use and would like to see it put to a better use then dust collection

Historically, a lot of people will tell you that they want it until they find out the price. Most people do not want to pay $1,200 for a good mil-spec harness for their stock EMS.

but i know i will, no question. for my haltech setup especially. the fc wiring is a joke at this point, 20something years later, you want a fully built car, but original wiring? thats just dumb gotta pay to play gentlemen Lloyd |
Some already have a new engine harness, thats why a body harness would be nice.

Even better, how about some nice new plug-and-play fuel injector leads and connectors to replace our brittle old wires and cracked connectors? How about rebuilt cluster switches? How about a good, ready-to-install wiring and relay kit to replace our horrible power window wiring? Maybe even a fuel pump rewiring kit? |
If PATCH harness is the same as used on a Breakout Box type device, then that would help someone check out the ECU inputs/outputs easier than backprobing the ECU plugs when connected to the ECU. Been there/done that yrs ago.
Anybody who does not know what makes up the EM hanress needs to go read the wiring section of the FSM. Anybody who orders a Engine harness and ends up getting the EM harness deserves the results of his mistake. Hard to carry on a post with people who call a apple a orange. |
