2 questions-- power everything and engine swap

ok, I have two issues. First, I have an 86 fc that is nearly as base as you can get and I'm about to acquire another one that has power everything. How difficult would it be to take out the power windows and locks and install them into the base?

2nd. I'm very close to getting a 1956 ford f100 pickup and want to install a different engine and transmission. I've never attempted this before and want to know if it's a job I can take on myself as someone just learning about projects such as this or will I need to have a shop do it?

It is a little dificult but you should be able to manage with a good doze of common scenes and time.

Doubtful this is quit difficult. Well you have to hoist the engine and tranny into the bay. Run strings and levels and or laser level everything. You have to align the tranny and the rear end and the motor to its mounting point exactly. Then take measurements and fabricate custom motor mounts. Then you can install it. Now unless carbed and distributed you need to custom wire an EMS or use stand alone. Next is all the custom mounting for the tranny and a custom drive shaft. Hope the shifter and shifter hole is proper on the car for the new placement of tranny. Now all the hoses and thus for cooling. IMHO if someone has to ask me what is involved in a custom swap they should not be attempting it.

Well, none of it should be custom. I'm taking out the existing engine out and replacing it with what should be an identical 1955 engine that has been completely rebuilt and restored.

Well then, that is not realy a "different engin" now. With that said a pre ODB engin should be a breez.

This is the RX-7 Forum, not the Ford Forum. Please take questions about your pickup elsewhere. Thanks.

You're right (I guess. Didn't really see what the big deal is. Figured if you're an RX7 expert then you've got to be a major expert in other areas too. Anyway),

so back to my first question. How much will actually go into putting the power windows and switches in. I'm already switching out the interiors. Am I going to find ready connectors like I did when I installed bins in the back or is there going to be more involved? Basically, once I remove the door panels and such as see where the connections are, will it be pretty obvious how to install them?
