2 mystery wires need help
1 Attachment(s)
found these two wires under intake manifold car is an 89 with s4 keg but everything was swapped over to s5 full emissions the black clip has a blue wire with black stripe and white clip is yellow with red stripe and looks like oil pressure wire
The Yellow wire is definitely for the Oil Pressure Sender. Does it appear the other wire is part of the same harness or not?
yellow wire is oil pressure. the other is the fan switch, only the T2 and automatics have it, but every car has the plug
some how i have two oil pressure wires then cuz its already hooked up i'll double check to make sure the oil pressure wire hooked up is the right one. but thats why i was unsure
The Oil Pressure Sender has a "nail head" like end to it that allows the specific plug for it to slide over and I believe it is the only component in the engine bay which requires this specially designed plug.
yeah thats what i thought, but the yellow wire in pic goes to ecu harness
The Y/R wire of the sender comes from the Engine harness which then connects to the Front harness. Both Front and Emission harness wires "can" run to the ECU, but some don't. There's a Y/R wire at pin 1B but this Y/R wire goes to a Green check connector plug w/two other Yellow wires and a B/W wire located near the leading coil. If you believe the wire in the pic goes to the ECU then a continuity test should prove that one way or the other.

got back from working on car. the y/r wire in picture is in the harness that goes to ecu my oil sender has a y/r wire hooked up to it that leads to the other harness the engine harness/ ecu harness is out of a 91 the ecu is 89 from this car tho
thank you guys for your help so far |
so does anybody know what the y/r wire is
I'm not sure what gives, but if you say it runs to the ECU then find that wire at the ECU and perform a continuity test and you'll have your answer.
