16x8 wheels

i want to run 225's on my car on all 4 corners, and the only wheels i can seem to find are 7.5" wide. I dont want to go with a taller wheel since ill get pointed for anything after 16" where i race.
225 is almost 9" , so i think 7.5" wide wheels is a strech. When you road race, you want to have a wheel thats about the same width as the tire.

any cheap wheels that are 16x8?

Edit: Cant you fit 215's on the stock rim?

A 7.5 wide wheels will be absolutely fine for a 225 tire.

Ryde _Or_Die 12-21-02 01:20 PM

I run 225/50/16s on the stock 16x7 rims. Oh and the FD wheels are 16x8 but you'll need spacers for the front.

turbotwista 12-21-02 06:28 PM

I run 225/50/16's on my stock TII rims and they are 16x7 I want to run 255's in the back and 245's up front just dont know what offset I should get with that I want 17x8's for street and some 15" welds with slicks for the track with skinnes up in front

Jahoo88 12-21-02 06:50 PM

I want 16x7.5" black steel wheels with 225 up front, 245 in the back. Do they even make these? What offset do i need?

DJChunter 12-21-02 06:58 PM

stock T2 rims are 16x8, says so on the rim itself.. i just went out to my car and looked.. there not that expensive either.. i payed $150 for mine with 4 new tires and they were delivered to my house.. my buddy ricky has a set of 4 T2 rims with no tires on them for $80 for all 4.. let me know..

So stock T2 is 16 x 7 or 16 x 8?

I have 4 bolt, 14 x 5.5 (or 6?) phonedial wheels with 215 tires on it now.

Umm...no their not. :) I don't know why you have 8" rims but count yourself lucky.

Scott 89t2 12-21-02 07:33 PM

TII is 16x7. FD is 16x8. and as above need spacers for FD rims. I wouldn't consider at all using spacers on a track car. if they even let you...

Ryde _Or_Die 12-21-02 07:36 PM

Ya stock TII rims are 16x7. FD rims are 16x8. For the front of your car you want an offset of like +35 to +38 maybe. I've heard +40 will work depending on the tire and rim width. On the back +40 will work fine, even up to like a +50(because the FD rims are +50 and they fit on the back). Contact ARD T2 on here, he knows exactly what sizes you will need and sells rims.

Manolis_D 12-21-02 08:29 PM

225's fit absolutely perfectly on 7.5" rims. I've got falken azenis sports (225/45's) on 17x7.5" rims, and the sidewall is perfectly vertical (no 'flex in / out at all)

I run 16x8 off of a R32 GT-R. 225/50R16 is the just about right size. 7" rims should not see more than 205's or 215's. It depends on the tire model as they vary. Check those manufacturer specs. Hell, you can put 245's on 7" wide rims. But that's another dumb thing that people do when they think they know what they're doing.

If you want 8" wide rims, get some with an offset of 35. Offset +30 in the back looks perfect, but the same in the front is way too wide unless you have the suspension to make up for it.

SonicRaT 12-22-02 05:34 AM

I just looooooooooove enkei rims :)

dr0x 12-22-02 06:52 AM

I put the cobra r rims on someones car (very quickly). Shaved a few things off the car too. I think if I spent more than 30s fitting those rims it would look fucking pimp :)

turbojeff 12-22-02 01:42 PM

90+ 300ZX wheels are 16x7.5" and actually pretty light, about 17-18lbs each. We used homemade 1/4" spacers up front.

I ran them on my TII with 225/50/16 Kuhmo Victoracers. Here are some pics, I think they looked pretty good for the price:).

drox, How heavy are those cobra r rims?

dr0x 12-22-02 02:45 PM

This is all it says concerning weight.

Lightweight castings are carefully finished to the highest standards.

Damn Volks are so expensive :(

ARD T2 12-22-02 04:14 PM

I'd suggest the buddy club P1 or Kosei K1. We're offerring special pricing on the buddy club wheels. They are very lightweight and come in a beautiful fitment for the FC.

16,7.5 and 8.5 staggered. THis would allow you to dial in a little more predictability with 225/50 up front and 245/45 in the rear. Sick ass setup. If I could afford another set of wheels for autox these would be the ones.
