why doesn't anyone remove the vert targa?

i seriously felt like a newb when i noticed that the targa center section could actually be removed, as i have never owned a vert before. the PO mentioned it to me and i was surprised when i saw that it was a removable piece, being that no one even mentions the targa here.

but i have never seen pics of any 7 with it removed. does everyone really think it's that ugly?

i know it's not because of a difficulty reason as it took about 30 seconds to remove.

I use to remove mine all the time.. Wind buffering is a bit of an issue.. But I think its a super cool option.

The only real advantage, aside from novelty of running an open targa look, is that the top lays down much flatter without the targe panel akin to how a Miata looks top down. Way more clean look while driving around topless.

FTP's??

Id rather put the whole top down than just take the targa out. Factory there is straps in the trunk and a targa bag to hold the targa when the top is put down. Since i cannot put my targa in the trunk i just put the top down/fold the targa and put the boot on.

I've owned two convertible FC's, I drive around with just the targa off all the time. It's almost more painful to drive with the top all the way down, and with just the targa roof off, you get lots of nice fresh air, but you can still feel the effects of the climate controls too. Win-win.

I feel it's pretty redundant with the wind blocker... Windows up, wind barrier up.. Feels like it's just got a big sunroof B)

Anyway, my friend Diana does it all the time, but mostly because she put a [stupid*&#$] roll cage in her [super clean low mileage] 88' and the targa wont lay flat because of the cage... ~_~

I use the targa option all the time and think its one of the most unique features of the vert. Who gives a damn whether it looks better or worse, no one will ever agree. If you look at from a low profile like most people see in their car , it looks awesome. Ive been 180 km /hr (105 mph) in it with the center piece out and it doesnt move a bit and never had wind buffetting issues. Its also great when its sunny , but cooler out in the spring and fall and you may want to drive with some heat on as well . the center section fits fine in the trunk .

I always wondered this... mine is personally broken, the rear section won't stay up by itself for whatever reason.

i personally think it looks retarded with just the targa off, i hate the mk3 supra, and i dont want my car to look like it
besides, the top down is the only way to roll when its not raining

I enjoy the Targa top every now and then. I have taken it on the interstate a few times and I enjoyed the fresh air feel. It is a nice change of pace....

I actually prefer to ride with the targa out only. Windows up, top up, fresh air. The top being up doesnt seem to catch too much air, I suppose since the wind is deflected by the windshield.

I drove around in the summer a few times with targa section out, not as much wind but all of the sunburn so I may as well just drop the top. Now I have a roll bar that required me removing the top motors so its up or down only.

This, when especially driving interstates.

I miss having a vert so much.

I love the targa option. Great if you dont drive it daily and can keep it out. Many times this winter Ive done the targa in the morning and full vert in the afternoon.
