The unit is an Avic D3.
Is it a unit that comes with newer Mazdas?

yeah, why? you have one for me? :D
it seems to be pretty common for them to break on these cars.

No, it's an aftermarket unit made by Pioneer. A lot of people think i got it from a newer mazda and swapped it into my car, haha.

MaczPayne 02-17-09 04:37 PM

That unit is so bling I'm scared to even get one for my car!

stylEmon 02-17-09 04:58 PM

so is the mazda screen just a screen saver, so-to-speak?

ICEY? 02-17-09 05:19 PM

how did you get your gauges looking so bright and nice... my needles dont even light up...

Rob XX 7 02-17-09 05:22 PM

part of it is that awesome picture/camera, so clear and bright. I have to try my nikon d80 and attempt to get a picture like that instead of the old ass sony point and shoot I use

MDoe8 02-17-09 09:21 PM

Sharp looking interior! I'm beginning to see that stock looks great, it just basically has to be flawless and super clean. Once i get my car on the road, i'll have to detail the interior and then post it up here to get some feedback.

it's not a screen savor, it's a background/wallpaper. but yeah, it gives it that stock look.

the gauges looking brighter is a camera effect to take in more like, that's why the navigation screen looks all bright cause it took in a lot of light there.

Turbo2FC3S 02-17-09 11:41 PM

like Rob XX 7 said, the camera helps, but the interior still looks really clean in person. the camera mainly helps in taking pictures where there's less light.

im thinking you could revamp the guages on the dash with new bulbs. i know a lot of poeple on other cars just buy new LED's for the back of the guages and get them in different colors etc etc. im not sure if the back of these guage clusters are a film or colored LED's but my guess is colored film so its a lot harder to change the color. but im sure if you just get new bulbs/LED's for the back they could look brighter as well.

Rob XX 7 02-18-09 07:42 AM

turbo- i did not mean to downplay your clean interior, its hard getting night photos and your photos are awesome.

even with a crappy pic you can see that is a great interior

Turbo2FC3S 02-18-09 05:34 PM

^^^ it's all good man, don't worry about it :D

Gigantic Pic

I'd say swap interior to black, mines cleaner now and I have no idea how to work the camera since I got it free :P but black == <3

^ you get your cd player stolen?

Zerkster 02-20-09 06:46 AM

I think the factory interiors look good enough stock (except burgundy and blue)

Just put in New aftermarket seats, LED amber bulbs in the cluster and clean the shit out of the carpets

Bridgepulse 02-20-09 11:38 AM

Keep it simple and clean bro the beauty of having an FC is the forever old skool look. Just a pair of bride seats (other brands are fine too your choice of course) and a nice break away steering wheel maybe even the kind that lift up like in the JGTC

I had wanted cloth seats, but could not find any that were reasonable in price, these seats I got also came with brackets and sliders.

Are those knockoffs or MS seats from a different car? Your interior is way too nice for knockoffs.
