I wouldn't say I'm a 'proud' n/a owner, but it's nice to have another rotary again regardless.

I saved this car from being crushed. It's a 1991 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...Ralmost006.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...Ralmost007.jpg The car hasn't been painted yet and I've obviously been using 10th AE lights. I love the S5 lights but when I got the car someone had already nabbed them and regular black S4 lights were on there. I got these 10th AE lights for $40 at a swap meet. I couldn't resist the temptation. They look neat on an S5, I think. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...Ralmost008.jpg Oil pressure and oil temp gauges in the old AC vent, the car doesn't have AC anymore so I didn't see a tremendous need for the center vent. They glow reddish orange to match the stock illumination color. The AFC neo is mounted below the radio and was an absolutely perfect fit! It's set for orange glow buttons and background so everything matches at night. :) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...S/DSC01962.jpg And this is what the motor looked like pulled out of the car. Hard to believe when you look at it now. The motor was locked up at only 126,000 miles. It looked like carbon lock maybe? And I don't think the OMP was working either. One of the apex grooves was split but amazingly the housings and plates were in really great shape. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...S/DSC01957.jpg Super dirty engine bay. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...Ralmost002.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...Ralmost005.jpg And this is it as of April 21st. It has been ported in a sort of wild and semi-experimental way and rebuilt with an Atkins Rotary master kit. The porting was mild but still bridged. We tried to do it in a way that would run with help from only a piggyback fuel computer. The primary is bridged but in a minor way and it's quite a bit larger than stock. The secondary port is bridged and expanded a little. The auxillary port aren't bridged and just smoothed a little. I have no idea how it will run and what the power gains will be (if any! lol) Once she's up and running I'll give a run down on how it feels. Oh, and I'm using a full Racing Beat exhaust, SR Motorsports Aluminum Fly, Exedy Street Strip clutch plate, ACT Pressure Plate, No Aux Sleeves so low end will suffer and it'll be a little tough in the city with the light fly, no OMP (pre-mixing) no power steering, no A/C, No air pump, all silicone radiator and heater hoses, new but stock injectors, a walbro pump (it's cheaper than a factory pump!), steel braided clutch line, no rats nest obviously, no EGR, no ACV...yadda yadda. No cat, either. It's nice we don't have emissions testing here. Yay! =D Suspension and brake upgrades are happening too but not until it's running. Like I said, I'll keep updating everyone as things progress. It's really a big question mark car but a lot of fun. to do. |
sooooo clean!!! Nice job on bringing it alive and saving it from the crusher.

Thanks!
I'm from around the Westridge/Englewood area. I live in Battleboro now. (litterally in the office I work at! Gah!) But it's wicked cheap. Haha. Phillip Evans built and ported this motor, you may know him if you had a 7 here. He lives in Roanoke Rapids. |
