Pic Request: FC with Rota Torque wheels
http://tirez.net/images/rota%20torque%20white.jpg
Just as the title says, doesn't have to be this exact wheel. But something close to that style like Sportmax 039s or Work Emotion CRs. Preferably in 17". |
I despise rotas due to their shitty offsets

I've heard that they're pretty reliable and decent quality. hmmm lets see... spend $1600 on expensive brand name rims (excluding tires) or spend $600 decent lookng knock off rims (also excluding) and use the other $1000 on engine/interior/suspension parts... hmmm |
depends on what you plan to do wiht the car... high priced wheels will help resale the car and improve resalve value.
Cheap wheels would be good enough for track and daily bashing. But the expensive wheels would push the build quality of the car if you shoot for sponserships, magazine coverage or car shows. Go with what ever you can afford. Both expensive and cheap wheels have thier benefits. I dont really like Rota tho or anyone else who has to copy an expensive wheel and sell it cheaper. There are alot of affordible great quality ORIGINAL designed wheels, 5zigen FN01R, Work Emotion CR , MB Motorsports Weapon, and whatever I cant think of.. then at least no one can say you have fake wheels heheh |

it doesnt matter if theyre cheap or not... if you crash and the impact lands on the wheel, its gonna break... ive seen pics of wheels off C5s, ferraris, porsches... that were all broken after a crash... and you know damn well that those wheels arent very cheap... |
Rotas are good wheels, and priced well, yes they are knock offs, but fuck, they are some damn good looking wheels.. the subaru community is a big fan of rota's simply because you can put that extra money back into the motor, god knows we need it.. just my 2 cents

I have had Rota's on a few of my cars and have been very impressed by the quality , i have used them alot for drifting and the wheels are used alot in our Drifting series over here in the UK , I just paid $900 for a set with tyres for my car , and the maind reason for buying this brand was for the look and also budget as i have just purchased Greddy Exhaust and Ganador mirrors for the car and also require a nice turbo and all this will cost less than a set of big name brands , Dont get me wrong would love the real thing but budget was the main issue All these pro drifter in europe us them http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...rift-B-022.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...ift-ABC-01.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...rift-A-042.jpg |
^^ they probably got em free for sponsorship or something
Your Ganador Mirrors are just about worth more then your rotas! Why doesnt Rota put thier name on thier wheels or have thier own original designs? |
LOL they sure are , yea they do get them free as there sponsored by Rota , to be honest everyone in the UK is pretty much
I do Have some 10x18 Work Miester S1 that will be going on for drifting ;) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...Image115-1.jpg |
rotas are cast not forged like high quality rims so when they break when your hard tracking all the money you saved will be put into fixing your car damage and now no rims so it's gonna be a waste of money unless its just for DD but still a lot of people in my community hate rotas just cuss they are hella fake.

Rotas are just lame because they copy good wheels and make horrible sizing.
If you just don't care, get whatever you want. But you know in the back of your mind, you'd cheap out hardcore. As far as high quality wheels, you can ALWAYS repair chunks missing, scuffs. You cannot repair cracks. Replacing wheels aint fun soooooooooon |

I've never broken a wheel.
Cheap shit is for lames. I don't like looking at my car and have one part that comes from some overseas factory that makes calculators and kitchen utensils. If your sponsored by Rota, by all mean support your sponsor. If you have your "own" choice, buy a high quality wheel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPMdKIsf5k4 Rays foundry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq1Yy...eature=related BBS foundry educate yourself. |
christ... who gives a fuck already...
let who ever buy what ever he wants for cryin out loud! |
seriously.
now rota give the US the damn 17x9 torques already. i want the fake work emo stagger goddamnit. |
Reading this thread is funny , i love it when people get so hit up about fake this fake that ,
I know lot of people using rotas for drifting / street use and Drag racing and non of them quote non of them have any problems with them and have also commented on how light they are and strong aswell , a good friend on mine crashed his PS13 a few weeks ok with rota boost drift series on , his chassis was bent , also lower suspension arms and subframe , and the wheel only had a chuck taken out of it that is being repaired as we speak with no stress fractures ect , will get pics up of damaged wheel soon , I must say i do understand the thing about fake wheels but not everyone has a budget to buy the big brand names so these are the next best thing on our opinion :) All us UK guys like Fake LOL http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...ping004-vi.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...ping003-vi.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...s/Parkedup.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...mage0162-1.jpg BUT YOU SURE CANT BEAT THE REAL THING IF YOU HAVE THE BUDGET http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...wheels/DW4.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...wheels/DW5.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...wheels/DW6.jpg |

|

Why the hell do you drive an rx7? Shouldn't you be driving a porsche or ferrari? I mean you have to have the best and the rx7 is just a knock off sports car and it will probably break. And after all ferraris are hand made, non of that mass produced crap they do in Japan. |
Rotas break when pushed hard all the time. I can guarantee you will only regret buying knock offs, but if the real deal isn't in your budget, what else can you do:dunno:. I would buy these if I couldn't afford the big names http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/AvengerSeries.htm

The way the aftermarket works in the US, someone sees a great invention made in japan*almost all the US based aftermarket companies* , thinks "Oh i can soo cash in on this , copy it, have it made by the least costing factory i have access to, then sell tons cheap to the market, the consumers will soo buy it for its looks if its cheap, it didnt cost me much to make it, so ill sell it for minimal profit, but as long as i sell tons of them, ill make bank for sure". Soo many companies do that.. esp with aero/bodykits, alot of small companies like GP sports go out of business because their stuff gets ripped off and no one wants to support them, but just wants their looks. *i think GP actually did go out of business or stopped producing kits*. The GP sports fc kit is one of the sexiest kits out there. Its just nice to support original companies who put the time and effort into thier designs and have actually done the research and devolpment, over a company who just knocks them off and sells them way cheaper.. It eventually affects you the consumer in the long run when these companies can no longer compete. Once you have had the taste of owning real original parts, you would appreciate the work and quality put into them, even if they did cost you an arm and a leg. The pure enjoyment and complements you recieve from owning these parts, should be satisfaction. If the Rotas where of their own design, im sure no one here would have a problem with them, its just they take away the market from respectable companies with inferior counterfeits. |
[QUOTE=dial8;7868495]Rotas break when pushed hard all the time.[QUOTE]
Please stop posting bullshit. Rota make wheels for Toyota, Subaru, Tommy Kaira, and many many more OEM manfufactors All rota wheels are tested to OEM specs which are far more stringent tests than for aftermarket wheels. Can you tell me, if Rota's break, how the hell do they pass VIA/JIL testing? :wallbash: I guess intelligence isnt your strong point I have owned/sold more Rota wheels than you have had hot dinners, litterally, I have sold over 50,000 Rota wheels, not one has broken without being involved in a heavy crash (where any wheel would break). Comparing a Rota to a Volk wheel, they are similar strength, just the Rota's are heavier, to get the same strength (as they are cast) |
The 17x9" Torques were actually made for myself, for the UK market, ie I paid the costs..
We have 17x9, 17x9.5 et30/35/12 GTR's are now out in 17x9 and 17x9.5, and we have a wheel in 18x10 due very soon.. :icon_tup: |
Same old story some of the big names brand wheels are over priced for what they are and most people just dont have the funding to afford these , if you look at the rota wheels they do differ slightly from the other wheels , and also they do have there name spread across the centre caps , and also many sizes and offsets they also make these available to Us in the UK and Your goodselfs in the USA mostly with over night delivery rather than waiting 6 weeks or more from japan ,
Rota is a counterfeit wheel made to stir people away from the real quality wheels and buy less then quality affordable wheels. Alot of these companies lack the research and development techniques to design original in house designs Anyway each to the own to be honest , If you have the funds to buy the Big name brands go for it , if other people cant thank god for companies like Rota ( we can still have our cars on the road with the look you require or crave for and a cheaper price ) |
since when the hell did rota start suppling wheels to OEM manfucturers? Rota is not even japanese, they would never supply to manufactures, maybe crappy small dealer installed options, but thats it.
I dont trust pictures of employees putting the wheels together on the website as trust worthy. I mean any company can do that, it doesnt reflect the quality of the build. Im not trying to discourage anyone from buying them. Its all personal pereference. Again, if theirs where an original Rota design wheel, it wouldnt bother some of us, but the fact that they copied another company, is just bothersome. |
again... who cares... in this industry... who doesnt copy some other brands design now-a-days...
|
Rota is located in the Philippines. They make wheels for OEM applications in the Philippines. Philippine roads are shit. If those wheels can hack the roads in the PI... I'd buy a set for daily driving. I just wish they had better offsets.
The reason why they are so well priced is because labor in the Philippines is cheap... real cheap. The quality is just as good as the best out here in the US. I've seen plenty of things built in the Philippines that is quality, and I've seen plenty of junk. If you dish out a good chunk of change, you'll get quality. For instance, my parents bought land in the Philippines last year. They are building a house out there and the property looks like something you'd see in Hawaii. They are spending about $200,000 to build a house, which is nothing compared to what you get out here in Southern California. The difference is that to build a house out here that meets the quality of the house my parents are building in the Philippines, you'd have to spend about $1,000,000. Everything in that house is custom made. The property that they bought is in a gated community with other houses that were all custom built as well. Rotas are light, affordable and will hold up well. If you're looking to get into any magazines or if you're into getting sponsorships, don't buy Rotas. If you just need some nice, light, daily driven wheels, Rota would be something to consider. "People spend money, to buy things they don't need, to impress people who don't care." So in the end, it's up to you to rock whatever you want on your car, however you want to do it. As long as you're pleased with what you've got in the end, that's all that matters. You're the one working your ass off to get what you want, not what other people say you should get. |
yah im filipino too.. but i wont let that change my idea about them. Im sure Rota is an american company who has thier parts made somewhere else. I hear bomex bodykits are made out there too, and they are nice quality *tho the looks are not that great*.
I seriously doubt their cars run 150+mph let alone serious road racing with them out there. |
