I wasn't sure with the changes you made.

I determined that if you try to use the bolt holes that lined up with the s5 bumper it does not fit right, then if you clamped it in place it fit great but was a bit short, so that is why I extended the edges- win-win for both series vehicles

Mold is finished, going to let it cure overnight, then release it from the plug, trim it and start waxing so that I can pull some parts from it.

Will have a nice shot of the mold tomoroww after its popped and trimmed.

Some call it a Demonspeed lip, some call it a Mike Lamonica lip, so named after the forum member who used to sell them.

I call it the ROB XX7 lip.

You said it would require trimming for the s4 right?

I'm interested, but I'm so terrible at lining things up like that. You should have seen my trunk lid trying to install the duckbill

I can very easily clamp it to my coupe, which has a s4 lip on it right now, and trim it to THAT car, it should match up 99% to any S4 after that.

When I make the first one I will trim it to match up to my S4 bumper.
When that lip was on my car it ended short on both sides, I was not happy with that so that is why I extended it and left it a little bit longer, to allow a little bit of room for slight differences in cars.

Got the mold waxed and even managed to pull one from the mold. I used flexible resin and I am pretty happy with the amount of flex in the part. I can put more but I dont think I want too flimsy.

Used good quality glass too, 3/4 oz, 1.5oz, and 7oz, extra 1.5 along the radius area.

In a little bit Im going to clamp it up to my coupe that has a S4 bumper on it and take another picture.

to be 100% honest I did polish that up a bit when it came out of the mold, they are glossy but not THAT glossy. I ran a buffer and some gelcoat compound over that one to shine it up a bit, when I pull another one Ill take another picture.

Was way too hot this afternoon to mess with this on the car, maybe tomoroww morning before I get involved with other things at work I can pull my coupe into the shop and take some pics of it on the coupe with the s4 bumper.

this is where I clamped it, those spring clamps can be had at home depot for about 99 cents each, come in handy for lots of things.

That lip is looking very good! Could we get a pic of it from about 10-15 ft. in front of the car. Once you get the ball rolling on these I would love to get one.

I used a cut off wheel, then a little sanding, took me longer to get everything out then to trim it.

a dremel will work also

I have a similar lip that I bought back in 04 from a chick who used to race her RX7, she told me her dad made the lips for her and I bought her last new one.

It is very similar to the one you have, BUT it extends out more. I have seen one that used to be sold from some place in Florida that looks like yours. If you notice, yours looks like it is a couple inches shorter than mine. I used mine with the stock undertray to create a splitter and it worked awesome.

I recently broke mine, getting my car off the trailer. Would you be able to repair it for me if I sent you the remaining pieces? What it really needs is the center section back on, and little parts here and there refilled.

I bet someone started with the same one for both of our lips. Yours is definitly longer.
Mine also works with the stock undertray, but I also had the idea of making the center longer- not sure if that would do anything but it would be super easy to use a piece of alum riveted on to the end to experiment.

its funny because it looks like your passenger side one had the same problem my original one did at one point, it hooks in too much so that the corner ends up sticking out too far.
I think by the time you ship that thing back and forth you would just be better off to have someone local to you repair it- but if you want I can fix it for you.



What was done on mine was a cut was made to wiggle the end out to meet the fender, this allowed you to line it up better, it was on my car for years like that and does not take away any strength leaving the slit open. When I made the plug what I did was attach the lip to my car where I wanted it to be, then I glassed the backside of the slit right on the car itself.

I PURPOSELY left the indent from the slit on the part, and in the mold, this would allow someone to know where to cut it if they wanted to tweak the end a little bit. All you have to do is put a slit in that spot and the end wiggles in and out, the wider the slit the more adjustment you have. My original lip was very ridgid, the new one is MUCH more flexible due to the resin used, so actually you have quite a bit of wiggle room.

You can see in these pictures the "slit" I am talking about. When the part comes out of the mold the slit is visable, but once mounted on the vehicle it is hidden from view.
These cars being as old as they are have quite a bit a variance in that area, the fender can easily be a little different from one car to another because there is nothing that supports the fender near the wheel well, it can be a 1/2 off from one car to another and would not even be visable until you tried to bolt something up to it.

its blue/silver, what did they call that color anyhow? I got fenders, doors, and bumpers all that color
