My 88 Vert trunk, Help me
I dont know how it happened but my trunk will not open. The trunk release has been broken since i bought the car, and just recently the key lock has also stopped working.
I was just wondering i anyone else has has this problem or any ideas about how to fix it with out having to destroy my trunk.

First try removing part of the carpet where the trunk release is inside the car, if the end of the cable broke off you can pull the cable with a vise grip to release the trunk, thats if it broke there and not back inside the trunk.
if that does not work remove the rear deck cover over the spare tire and access the trunk after knocking the back plastic cover loose, you may end up having to put a hole in it to do so. Once you do that you will have to remove the rear most plastic trunk liner, once you do that you can use the linkage to manually open the trunk.

I know his is a vert, I have released the trunk of a vert from inside the car, its not easy but its better then messing up the trunk itself.
if the key is not working chances are the linkage fell or broke off, a locksmith will be powerless.

The original poster has not been back to the forum in 13 years. May want to check the release cable for proper tension. Check tonsee if the trunk opens with the key. If not, is there resistance when turning the key in the lock cylinder? If none of this helps, you may want to creare a new thread regarding the issue and what steps you have taken to resolve the issue thus far.
