at least the mustang looks like it fits and isnt hanging off like the "pignose"

I figured the 626 lip was a lot more popular around here. I think that looks great on S4s...

taurus lip...

customized a lip off a early 90's ford taurus. not bad for $7 and a hour or so to mount.
not completly done, need to shave the ends off, they stick out into the wheel well about an inch, and then maybe some more working the corners with the heat gun to fit flush. feedback welcome  |

Added a Mach 1 Mustang Lip.. Still needs some minor adjustment.. But looks almost like it was made for the car.

My contribution: S13 Zenki lip. Stripped, primed, painted. I think it looks the best out of the Volvo/626/S13 options when mounted correctly. No cutting required.

bikedad- there might be enough gelcoat on there that you can lightly sand and polish it if you like it glossy. I spray a mold release into the mold when I make them so they dont come out shiny due to that. I did offer a high gloss gelcoat option what I did with those is I would put double the black gelcoat on them and when they came out of the mold I would polish them.

Unfortunately I didn't have it installed to withstand speeds over 150mph. (Elkhart Lake Road America) It snapped in the center from the down force. The passenger side ground down pretty far. Too far to save. I'll probably be ordering another one from you in the near future if you're still making them. The next one I'll be adding an aluminum frame to the underside to withstand the air pressure. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...017_142818.jpg If you look close at this picture you can see it flapping pretty good and that's just coming off a turn at about 100mph. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...RX7/DFB14i.jpg |

If Rob makes these again, try adding struts. It stiffens the lip up in the weak spot.

My original lip that I used to make the mold was at least 3 times heavier than the one I was putting out. The first few I sold People were complaining they weren't "flexible enough" so I made them lighter and with more percentage of flexible resin- problem with that is they obviously become more flimsy as well. Unfortunately you cant have it all- a really strong piece that's also flexible. At least its not a GTR lip my buddy bought for $1800 that I had to try to piece back together for him. I can stiffen the center up, add some heavier glass to them, and if you are tracking the car the struts are a good idea or even if you added a small spacer in the middle so could bolt up through it onto the bumper to keep it stiffer. Bikedad- if you end up wanting another one Ill make it special for you and half price- and cover the shipping how's that? If you still have the pieces of the old lip and wanted to use it for template to cut some alum for the center I can even glass it in if you send it to me beforehand. |
I think that go pro footage would go nice in the FC track video thread. never mind the lip. Hell, you can see daylight through the hood scoop in that picture!

(and total cost) I'll send the money right away. The car is just sitting in the garage right now doing nothing. I finished the Ronin 8.8 diff swap and waiting for the salty roads to clear up. I really liked how the lip looked and received a lot of complements on it. -Don |
Rob. I would like this lip. Are you still making it? my car will be at some time attacks so I would need to put the links in as well.

Anybody know if any miata front lip will fit a s4 fc? They seem to be cheap enough on fleabay, just don't have a miata on hand to measure up on a s4 rx7. Just look like s4 bumpers narrow enough at the bottom maybe a miata lip kit can be made to fit with some heat gun fun :)

I posted this in another tread on the Volvo lip.

Hey guys looking to pick up a cheap lip for my 87 FC tons of good stuff here!!
But iv seen jetta lips that fit and ones that don't go back all the way to the wheel well and leave a gap whats up with that? I like the look of the jetta lip over the mustang lip and its cheaper $35 vs $50 on fleebay. So anyone with the either lip weigh in and tell me a bit more about the fit of them? |

Sad to hear you sold your car don and never got to test it out Sort of a bittersweet parting. I have 8 years of fun built into it. :( Not quite sure what kind of car it will be yet but it's definitely going to be a convertible. Yes it will probably get swapped. :) |

or are you getting out of the FC chassis all together? Would love a Challenger or Cuda but those are so beyond my means. LOL Looking to do a Pro Touring setup. Drive it on trips with my wife and maybe a track day event once in awhile. We'll see. |

? Anyhow- his car also had the same lip. Was actually one of the first ones because that car came with the lip and it was all busted up so I removed and repaired it and thats what I used to make the mold for new ones. I didnt want to be wrecking it and paying for new ones all the time. |
