BOV Thread

Post the BOV on your FC. Picture of the setup, and a sound clip or video would be appreciated.

K!NCH 07-17-08 04:04 PM

Damn that huge! And good luck on your build.

Turbo II Rotor 07-17-08 11:04 PM

No BOV.

K!NCH 07-19-08 10:04 PM

Quick question, do you think a BOV is needed for a stock TII turbo? Which will be upgraded eventually.

MidnightOwl 07-20-08 12:06 PM

It's not necessary for the stock set up. The stock bov works just fine, but an aftermarket one makes a cool noise. I just have one to make my car obnoxious.

That's sorta why I wanna get one

But I plan on doing the swap then adding that and slowly upgrading pieces like FMIC, injectors and everything then a bigger turbo and I'd already have the BOV.

The stock BOV is actually audible inside the cabin (don't know about outside the car) once you get a decent exhaust and intake. If it wasn't recirculating it would probably be even louder.

While its cool to hear some kind of sound, my friends and I make fun of skittles WAY too much for me to ever become anything like them.

Groshuk 07-21-08 06:24 PM

You can just disconnect the outlet on the stock BOV and plug the hole in the intake if all you want is more noise can't you?

no , it will suck air in ,aka backfeed so you need a checkvalve

Nice setup. Very clean.

K!NCH 07-22-08 07:52 PM

Maybe this thread is pointless, but I had figured that different BOVs sounded different. Pictures are great and all, but I'd like to hear them unless they're all the same...

Eple 07-22-08 08:07 PM

They do, however it's also relative to how many PSI you're running.

manuelxj - Are you running stock boost, or more?

K!NCH 07-23-08 01:09 AM

That was pretty sweet, I'm looking for something a little more high pitched.

g14novak 07-23-08 08:53 AM

Sounds like a AGP for HKS SS BOV. Can't really tell because he isn't running much boost. :beerchug:

K!NCH 07-25-08 03:01 PM

Anybody have the Greddy Type R? Or RS, or whatever it's called.

gxl90rx7 07-25-08 03:42 PM

i have the greddy type s, i like it.. more of a long psssshhhh sound, instead of the short squeak some bovs make

Turbo II Rotor 07-25-08 05:03 PM

I like the sound of compressor surge better.
