Anyone got a set of Billet Hood Spacers on there FC???
anyone ever got a set of Billet Hood Spacers on there car??? like the ones you see on ebay or any other brand???
does it help let your engine run cooler with more airflow and let excess hot air leave the engine bay????? pictures please =] |
I read a couple articles saying they actually do lower intake and engine temps. Would love to know if anyone has the billet spacers since they're only 35$
I think password jdm or one of those kind of companies has them for sale.
I had the set from ebay. They are kinda adjustable as to how high the hood sticks up. This is with them set as high as they can go. And my co-worker makeing fun of my car. I saw cooler temps on my coolant gauge.

Nice. Definitely plan on doing this since going FMIC and NA hood. Looks great.
billet spacers, lol
they make you look like a ricer. don't forget the sleepy headlights.
i think lowe's sells spacers for 5 cents a piece.
I've read that hood spacers actually decrease cooling efficiency, due to the fact of higher air pressure at the cowl, feeds air in backwards therefore counteracting the air flowing forwards through the radiator.
And plus it makes you car look like a honda. But if you want to spend extra money on spacers, run your car hotter, and look like a ricer, go for it. |
remove 2 of the 4 bolts that hold the hood on, prop the hood up in the air, take a drive and tell us how you did.
I have this done to my car except i used a longer bolt and put a couple nuts in between. (didn't feel like spending any money on spacers.) It works just the same. As for the cooling it does help with cooling efficiency, I saw it in a magazine. It just doesn't make sense why it would make your car run hotter. Personally I think it looks good but thats just my opinion.
Meh, even if it had some miniscule cooling effect, I still wouldn't do it. I'd rather put my time into some proper ducting.
yah, it works. the main problem is your head being severed by a hood during a front end collision.
There is no way the hood is gonna cut through the a pillers, it would just buckle.
lol.... i guess ill just go the cheap way and jack some washers from homedepot haha and buy some longer bolts to make the size gap i want like i did on my 91 DA.. i didnt want a huge gap like the ones you see on ebay..
thanks for the input |

You can't do the washer trick on an FC due to the angle of the bracket being on a 45.
Will Work WILL NOT Work |
thanks for the info

Any pics of non turbo hoods like this? And how much higher is it at the top??
So not to be debby downer but how does this effect the catches at the rear of the hood?

Yes you can. I did it to my car. I spaced the hood hinge out from the chassis. Not the hood from the hinge, like on 240's.
