16x9 0 offset "Daimond Racing Wheels" w/ 205/45/R16 Toyo Proxes T1R
 

HELP PLEASE...I looked all over and still need help

I love the "slammed" look with the fender rolled and I enjoy a little tire stretch as well. I am not looking for light weight track/autox rims but rather some affordable steelie looking rims that are not to flashy.

I am a first timer on the whole deep dish rim style and don't really have a set size/dimension/etc as most others would already have.

I was originally looking at a set of 4 16x8" XXR 002 0 offset (3.5" deep dish) rims and was set on that for the longest time...until I saw the "Diamond Racing Wheels" which were cheaper and had the ability to custom fabricate a rim for myself.

The rims I want:

Diamond Racing Wheels 16x9" (+12mm offset front / 0 offset rear) matched with 205/45/R16 Toyo Proxes T1R rubber.

Problem:

- is 16x9", +12 offset front and 0 offset rear, 3 - 4" deep dish rim too big for the stock fender-ed FC3S RX-7?

- will I need a specific size (mm) spacers in the front and rear to make this work/clear the brake rotor and not rub in the inner wheel well?

- if so what offset should I go with that will still retain the 3 - 4" deep dish?



I looked everywhere to find an ideal fitment for my 1988 Mazda RX-7 (currently sitting on the 15x6" 5 Lug 4.5"/114.3mm bolt pattern aluminum alloy stock rims), but could not find anything that really pertained to what I was looking for.

I just do not know what offset I should have for the front and rear and whether or not 9" width rim is too big or not?

I appreciate any info given...

I was looking at someone else's fitment...This is someone's FC3S with a similar size rim (actually 1 inch larger than the one's i'm looking at... This guy has 17x9" 0 offset rims on front and back with 215/45/R17 rubber...obvious thing is this is a totally different rim style...I was just checking on fitment issues and what not, but I want it to look as flush as this...

Even cheaper wheels that look the same and are cheaper are the cragar d window wheels i went with 15" but they were only about 59 per wheel and free shipping from summit racing. Just maybe another option for you.

How far does the lip of the rims stick out past the "flush" line with the fender? I couldn't find a set of 16x9 0 offset 5 lug 4.5" bolt dimension.

Do you have any pics of the stance and distance the rims lip is in comparison to the fender (i notice you had 20mm wider front fenders/with that in mind what mm are your wheel spacers)?

How many inches of deep dish do you have?

What you are going to have to look out for when selecting one of these 'cheap' steely wheels is that more often than not, you WILL need a spacer to clear the brake calipers. This is mostly due to the fact that most cast wheels have a thick mounting pad and leaves enough space before the wheel's actual design starts. The cheap steel 'cragars' or 'diamond racing' rims have no added thickness to the mounting pad, its only as thick as the stamping for the center section itself, and that means the rims design starts immediately, leaving very little room for a beefy brake caliper (as found with the 4pot calipers on the FC's).

My wheels are 15x8 +6 and i am using a project kics 8mm spacer all around it was needed for the fornt to clear the calipers. Right now on the stock suspension and the 20mm front over fenders they stick out about 3/4-1 inch with a 205/50/15 federal 595 RSR and the rears stick out about 1/2 and inch with the same tires. Im getting my coilovers next week and plan to run a couple degrees of camber in the front and hopefully just 1 degree on the rear with just a roll. Have you looked into crown vic wheels there not as wide as your wanting but the offset is low

i have 16x10 +0 on 255 tires
then i have some really wide fenders so i guess that doesnt count ....

I've looked all over for the Ford Crown Vic or Lincoln marquis "BBS" look alike rims but finding a nice set is hard to come by...i've also gone to my local vehicle dump area and had no luck. When I searched online for a set they were $125.00 + shipping for just one rim.

I figured as much...nothing is as simple as just putting whatever size rim on a FC rx7...I was going to do the spacer dimensions as soon as I had received the steel rims. I am also wanting to go wide body on the rx7 as well but that is later on.

my main concern was whether the rims "lip" would stick way too far out from the fender (more than an 1 1/2"). I understand that I will more than likely need spacers to clear the brakes but I don't just want to buy the rims without seeing something similar with similar rim dimensions as what I am looking for. thanks
