Vented hood help cooliing?

My temps during hot weather are a bit higher than I'd like. It got up to 212 degrees the other day. I've got a TII with a hybrid turbo, Villager electric fan, undertray FMIC and Koyo rad.
I'm thinking that a vented hood may help airflow. Something similar to this Shine item .. http://www.shineautoproject.com/wp-c...od_bumper2.jpg

Do you think this will help?

It may help from an idle and cooling off perspective, but I believe that if you are running 210+ while moving down the road then you need to look into adding some ducting or increasing the size of your radiator. When were you hitting those temps?

The exit side of the radiator is very important to cooling efficency , the vent allows a lower pressure on the exit side , and will improve airflow, and thus cooling .....

I hit those temps on an 87 degree day after boosting.

Are there any hoods/vendors that you can recommend? Since summer hasn't even started yet, I want to nip this in the bud.

A vented hood will def help with reducing temps.

You could in theory also just run hood spacers too if you wanted a cheap fix.

I'm not a huge fan of the look, but it serves a purpose.

i found hood spacers really only helped drop an average of 5 degrees C. in my situation i didn't need the -5 degrees that bad so i removed them. my turbo RX8 project

Man, I thought hood spacers were debunked a decade ago. Might help you in city driving, but backfeeds pressure from behind when at speed.

A vented hood like what you posted definitely will help. Do you have everything ducted well right now? Ducting makes a pretty big difference if you have a FMIC.

ablesnead 05-29-18 10:36 PM

you have to be careful about the hood vent placement...it is further forward than most thnk...the factory turbo scoop is placed to far back for example...i use a shine , no before and after data though , although from a airflow chart I found online , it seems in about the right place...

Anywhere other than Shine sells the Pan Speed type vented hood? Shine is not selling those right now.
