Need advice
My husband, Robert Horn, passed away in March. He owned a 1991 Mazda RX7 hatchback. It runs good, recent inspection, great interior, needs body work/painting. I would like to put it up for sale but have no idea what would be a fair asking price. Can anyone on your site advise me? I sure would appreciate any advice. Thank you. Fran Horn. Ma'am, My sincerest condolences on your husband's passing. He will surely be missed by all and especially the RX7 community. From your photos, the car looks to be in pretty good shape. You didn't mention the mileage? That will be an important factor in determining the car's value. Take care and again sorry to hear about your husband's passing.

Car is worth between $5k and $8k .. . . .The good thing about the car is it is a Series 5 car from "89" to "91" which is more desirable than the Series 4 car from 86 to 88. . . . And the engine looks like it hasn't been modified by a boy racer as so many of them are.
If it was a Turbo car, it would be worth more.
You might be able to get $10k, but you are going to be sitting on it for a while looking for the right person.. . . .At $5k you should be able to move it pretty quickly if the car runs and idles like it should.. . .Somewhere in the middle is where you want to advertise.. . . One thing is for sure, I wouldn't go below $4k unless I wanted to give my friend a deal.. . .Running original rotary engines are getting harder to find.

The car does not have a sunroof which in a way is good because they tend to rust
The car does not have a cracked dash. . They tend to get beaten up in the sun
Car does not have adjustable suspension. . . .Lots of people do not like it and remove it because those adjustable struts are hard to find and more expensive.
Seats are in good shape. . Hard to find seats in good shape and it makes me believe the miles are low.
Power window switches are known to break. .. If both work that's a bonus.
AC working is always a bonus

There are two small dents on the fenders. It will need painting.
We are trying to get enough information so we can get it sold.

Mileage is base off the odometer, you don't reset it when you swap and engine as it gets it information from the wheel (hubs) and reflect the mileage on the car, not the engine. Just disclose that it has had a replacement engine in your sales ad. Buyers will care more about if it is currently running than when an engine was swapped in it (really common on this platform.) If a shop did the engine swap it may be worth while to grab the receipt or call them as many times they will record the actual mileage when the engine was replaced. All this isn't required though.
As far as where to see, there is a marketplace section here, and a few common facebook groups for selling 2nd gen cars. You might want to avoid the general facebook marketplace or craigslist unless you want to deal with a lot of tire-kickers even if that will give your sale add the most exposure.
