Brake Master Cylinder AAS needed?

Hey all,

I have a JDM 88 Turbo,
I removed the AAS since I put coilovers on the car (it was not working anyways), but I’m going to replace my break master cylinder, and I’m seeing that there are options for cars that have ABS and AAS.

The question is can I get a master cylinder that works for no-abs, no-AAS, or am I needing to get one that has AAS? I do not have abs on my car.

I was also wondering why would AAS even matter for the brake cylinder? As AAS was electronically controlled.

thanks all.

For US models, Series 4 (S4), the NA and TII had different master cylinders (MC). The TII wasn't available with AAS since hard suspension was standard. The NA had several different variations for its MC such as one with AAS and one w/o AAS. For your JDM model, I'm not sure what, if any, US MC would be a direct replacement. The US NA MC with AAS had a pressure sensor screwed in the bottom of the MC. See item 43-410 in this link https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-c...ping_fuel/4340. During hard breaking, the sensor would send a signal to the AAS computer, which would make the front struts go from normal to hard mode. If you're able to find a MC for your type of car, than you could just plug the hole for your pressure switch. The plug thread size would most likely be M10x1.0mm. Hope this helps.

huh..
so let’s say I did find a usdm MC w/o abs and w/aas,
that should work then yah?

Else I guess it sounds like I can buy one that non AAS and that would work too? Because I removed the AAS system.

If the new MC w/o AAS is a direct bolt-in replacement, then I'm sure you would be good to go. Either one should work, but you would need to plug the port hole in the MC with AAS. Actually, you could just reuse your old sensor, but leave it disconnected.

if you've removed the AAS shocks/ rest of the system, then you don't need that sensor either.
the AAS for the S4 cars uses brake pressure as an input and it'll do something. i think it stiffens the front shocks, but i'm not sure without looking

the JDM cars have a master cylinder that is a mirror image to the LHD parts, i think its like this:
FB01-43-400C is no AAS and no ABS
FB07-43-400C is with AAS but no ABS
F048-43-400C is with ABS, and those might have had AAS too?

it looks like ABS only came on the GT Limited and GT Limited Special Edition, which has AAS too, so it looks like they only need the 3.
