Hi all,
I picked up a 1987 RX-7 in an estate sale 2 years ago on a whim and honestly haven’t done a thing with it since then. I’m thinking it’s time to let it go and would love some advice on a ballpark figure of what I should ask for it.
It was garage kept for about 10 years by the previous owner and kept covered in my driveway for the past 2 years after that. I think it was a single owner before me if I remember correctly.
I pulled the plugs, put some oil in each and turned it over by hand a few times and then started it with carb cleaner. It fired right up but I didn’t sump the old fuel out so it wouldn’t idle.
Being a base model, it will command a slightly lesser premium than a 5 lug GXL car. I would definitely do the minimal work to get it running to maximize your buying audience. If it ran off starting fluid, you're probably a fuel pump and fresh tank full of gas away from getting it driving.
You're probably looking at $1500-2000 not running, maybe $3-5k running.
Also, this isn't an 1989 like your thread title states.
