Micro tech customer service

I have a 20 B, the latest and greatest LT 15 box, I have had nothing but wrong information about it, wiring diagram don't match wire color, plug diagram is different then the drawing, yada yada yada.

Well, I lost a injector driver, wanted to get a NEW UNIT while this one was sent back for repair, Im sure it would be at least 3 weeks, the middle of the season on a custom car i did in 4 months.

I bought a Haltech, received it the next day, nothing but great customer service, talked to a English speaking person every time I called for tech support.

Here is the emails from Micro tech.

I’m really not sure what you want me to tell you here but there is NO ONE in the USA right now who will have one in stock...... & I am very sorry but I can’t click my fingers & make one appear overnight either. To tell you otherwise would be bullshitting to you & I’m not prepared to do that.

You have 2x options........
You can take me up on my offer to take a look at your unit & see what the problem is as quickly as humanly possible if you want to send it over to us.
Or..... If you need something RIGHT NOW you would be best off purchasing an American made ECU that you can get RIGHT NOW so you can have the car running RIGHT NOW.

On the LT-15C no you cannot use an AUX output to control a set of injectors.

In my opinion I believe the problems you have experienced with that unit have been brought on by yourself simply because you are not familiar with how to use our products & have no experience with them. We sell 500+ rotary ECU’s each year (& have done so for the last 10+ years) & the only guys who have any problems are guys who don’t know what they are doing & are misusing the product.
We are more than happy to check the ECU & repair whatever damage is done to it...... However we can’t make one appear instantly in the USA like you expect us to.

My reply:

Also i am experienced in fuel injection. Your drawing was wrong your wire colors were off you outputs don't work so please don't tell me how many you sell and don't have any in stock. Who bull shitting who now. I'll send it back you can fix it maybe i can recoup some my money back. If there is a charge i will pay it it did last 378 miles. This unit was a problem from day 1 Jose was aware of it and helped as much as he could.

I don't like being insulted about my ability you have NO IDEA OF MY ABILITY this isn't my first car.

Thank you for the interest in EFM Autoclutch.

Wrong section, might want to move this to the ECU section

I briefly checked into Microtech's documentation and found it to be rather poor. The specific example I was seeking answers on, a LT8's MAP sensor wiring/capabilities, appeared to be a scan of a black and white paper document with all wires the same on-screen color and certain areas blanked out, making it very difficult to trace wires from ECU to target. If the remainder of their documentation is just as poorly implemented, it makes me wonder just how deep the well of BS goes. IIRC, Aaron Cake wasn't too pleased with them either about the promised-but-never-delivered upgrade to control the BAC Valve on his FC's Microtech ECU.

In contrast, every diagram I have seen from Haltech has been excellent and easily followed. Their service has been top-notch as well, and they're really dedicated to solving problems logically and efficiently too. Eric at Haltech has always been really easy to get along with, accepting criticism constructively such as when I informed him about the idle control feature not working. He informed me that the two boxes inside ECU Manager were labelled backwards and it was fixed in the next release.

An injector driver just falling off as you've implied sounds like a manufacturing defect. Haltech clearly states in their Platinum ECU manual that you can run either one injector (high or low impedance) or two injectors (low impedance only) per driver. Running two high impedance injectors makes the ECU work too hard and will burn the driver out.

Assuming that you've not overworked the ECU like the above case, this seems like Microtech blaming the customer, which is completely inappropriate considering their documentation is so poor to begin with.

Never had any issue with Microtech.

Wired all stuff up as described in there documentation, got all connectors soldered properly, tuned and have it run for ages!

They are things out there where you will find em trash, but other find em very good. All depends on various factors IMHO.

Just my 2p.

it worked, for almost 400 miles, but the thing is, you can't get them. LT 15 is what I have, its not even on the website, thats my concern. This unit was made for the 20 B, so OK something goes wrong with it, but get me another one, but they can't. So I'm supposed to part a 100k car for a month to ship it back then they fix it, then back to me? Id be down for a month, that is no way to run a business.

It held up for ~400 miles, then took a shit? If my understanding is correct about electrical theory, an overloaded injector driver would seemingly show up in the "smoke test". As I am not an expert in such, I would suggest asking C. Ludwig for his opinion as he is more well-versed on such than I am.

If C. Ludwig's opinion that it is defective, I would consider getting a refund from the merchant and going a different route such as a Haltech or Megasquirt, based on how Microtech has handled the situation. Sometimes, cutting your losses is the best way to win.

C. Ludwig mentioned something quite important here, correcting my erroneous assumption: https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95...nsors-1065406/

To change to a different sensor, a Microtech has to be reprogrammed by the company. In contrast, all I have to do is plug in the laptop and upload the calibration file. Plus, they include calibration files for lots of GM sensors, including the LS2 coolant sensor. Seems like a smarter approach that way

What injectors were you running?
