engine problem...

ok heres my situation... I bought a motor and the guy told me it was a c-code

motor but when my buddy started stripping it down to rebuild he noticed it was a

reman. and it had a A-series center iron but had a c-series rear iron The

question i have is would it be ok to leave this center plate in? I've read on here

and i was told that the "A" series had less iron around the dowel area so it

was easier for it to twist or w/e.

my power goals are around 490-530hp(no more,no less) single turbo with a streetport.

would a 3/8-1/4" steel oil pan brace help??

Any suggestions?

One plate or the other will not make it easier/harder to twist. The plates will have no impact on an engine"twisting" one way or the other. The thinner casting of the dowell area on the earlier engines are more prone to cracking from detonation than the later series engines. However, this shouldn't be a problem with a good tune from a reliable tuner.

An oil pan brace would make the engine more rigid, especially if it is cut like a baffle plate i.e., a solid (more or less) sheet.

btw, w/e?
warp/expand?
