Update.
Did oil mod to the center iron
Ported oil pump cavaties.
weighed the rotors I have. The 3 that were in the motor were 32 gram difference from lightest to heaveist. By replacing 1 of the rotors with another I have I was able to get it down to a 13 grams difference.
Now to get it balanced.

I'm thinking about using a remote oil filter and then direct feeding all 3 housing indipendently.
what do you think?

Update
Enlarged all oil passages and set up to direct feed all 3 stationary gears plus a remote filter.
Work has had me way too busy the past month and only 1 week left till I go home. The bright side is I will have 2 months off this summer before the next project starts.
I still have not sent it out for balance yet. I've been thinking of getting the rotors lightend while I'm at it.

I want to be able to enjoy the car this summer, then bring it out to CA when I return.

Back from Miami. I had sent Carlos my stuff a while back. I talked to him last Monday and he said he was going to do the final balance on the rotating assembly on Thursday. The rotors were finished weight matching and balanced. I thought to myself I could use a trip and booked a flight to Miami to check it out. I had some travel vouchers that needed to be used, so why not. I flew down Wednesday afternoon. Met Carlos at the shop Thursday, along with Robert (rob20rx7). The assembly was balanced twice, there was an issue found at the end of the first balance, So we balanced it again to make sure it was dead on. Thanks to Carlos and Robert's help for putting the extra effort in!!. My girlfriend flew in Friday and we spent the 3rd & 4th at Miami Beach and Bayside. Flew home early this morning. Some on Saturday I lost my camera. I had pictures of the balancing in progress.

Well off to the garage!

I didn't have the rotors lightend per Carlos's recomendation only clearanced. After the fact I wish I would have had the rotors scalloped(Port Phased). I'll do that when I find some S4 rotors and have Carlos give them the full treatment!. One nice thing, once the assembly is balanced, he can match new rotors to the weight he has on file for my assembly. No need to rebalance unless that weight changes.

Finished assembling the engine and installing it. It fired right up!!
Now to break it in.
I ended up porting and enlarging all oil passages, installed external direct feeding of the 3 housings, remote oil filer.

I also added the zeitronics Ethanol gauge wired to the AEM for auto fuel trim per ethanol content and data logging fuel temp. I also wired in my fuel pressure gauge to be datalogged by the AEM also. Going to install a EGT also to be datalogged. I might put one for each exhaust port.

The fuel in the tank from last Nov. gave a E80 rating. I pumped it out anyways and added fresh fuel.
Talking to Carlos, he is pretty sure it failed do to the #2 rotor being 28 grams heavier then the #3 and not being balanced.

No luck with the camera. I called the hotel and rental car company. I'm glad it was not anything special. I'll pick up a new one later this week.

I was motivated! Assembled the engine Sunday evening, installed it Monday. I had all the parts ready to go, all the side seals were fit, etc. I just double checked the clearances as I put it together.

I put on 150 miles today, going to the office and just touring arround. No real issues, just a bit of tweaking on the tune for idle and light load to smooth things out.

The Klotz Benol is doing it job premixed with e85.

Is this a two stoke oil? What kind of ratio do you run?

I ran a synthetic two stroke at 100:1 in my last race engine and was just curious to see what others are running. :suspect:

cheers,

Sam.

Yes it is a 2 stroke caster based oil. It is used to premix with alcohol base fuels. I run 90-100:1 with e85 and about 125:1 with gas.

Hey IronMdnX,

Enjoyed the visit and the info shared.
Special thanks to Robert (rob20Rx7) for staying all day and helping out.
At one point, it seamed we had an assembly line going each repeatedly with our own dedicated task.
Great collaboration. :icon_tup:

Sorry to hear about your camera.

Ill be following your posts and hope to check you out at seven stock. I happened to be at CLR yesterday and Carlos was helping me with milling the Rotor housings for the 4 rotor. It was fun, next time I'll visit FL in winter / early spring. The humidity killed me, just not used to that much. We have some humidity in MN, but I spent the last 1.5 years basicly in the desert. I would rather have 110 dry than 80-90 humid anyday.

300 miles on the car now. Foot is getting itchy, I keep holding back. I want a good break in on the bearings.

AcidAngel7477 07-09-09 09:31 PM

man! how do i get a job like your's? dropping money like its no big deal must be nice. good stuff here..insanity about the eshaft tho.

:AA:

I admit I have a decent job, but it does make me travel alot at times. It makes it tough to have long term relationships. I just spent 16 months in CA and have part of the summer off and am heading back to CA in Aug for a 12-14 months for another project. So it is a trade off, and I'm not complaining with the current economy.

It is not like I dropped a ton of money at one time. I've had the car for 8 years now. Each winter it evolves in some form. I do most of the work myself wich helps keep the cost down.
There is now way I could afford to have a shop do the work and be at the same point it is at. Plus I enjoy working on it, even when crap goes wrong.

so no haters
