20B service manuals

Over the years we have gotten many request for the 20B Cosmo manual.

Only to find the dissapointed customers gets no info on the engine itself.

A word of advice.......

The Cosmo workshop manual is printed in Japanese only & DOES NOT cover the engine in any detail. At best it shows the attachments around the engine & thats it.

It does show most of the wiring although the wiring manual is more comprehensive. It does show the ECU & pin outs etc if thats what you are after.

Mazda never allowed the dealerships to work on the 20B engines. They had to remove the engines & crate them back to Hiroshima where the factory would crate a new engine back to the dealership for fitment. Thus why no info was printed about the 20B.

Be careful with the wording - there is a Cosmo manual out there that covers almost everything about the car, including the 20B engine itself.&nbsp It goes as far as showing full ignition maps for the leading and trailing channels.

This manual does NOT have an ISBN, so it might be strictly for Mazda internal consumption only.

NO, I am not willing to make or distribute copies at this time.

Here is the link:

http://www.3rotor.com/JC_Cosmo_Manual.pdf

It is a large file, but worth the wait. But like it says above, this doesn't contain engine specifics.

Have Fun!!

That is because the first 7 chapters have been deleted from the pdf file. Maybe it's an alien conspiracy designed to keep Earthlings from reaching light speed?

More or less. I'd like to know about the spec for the cap nut and the 12mm tension bolts as well as the torque pattern (it's probably similar to a 13B, but it would be nice to have confirmation).

Since doing the "runner" from Australia back to his homeland in NZ, that site has been down for obvious reasons.

The link may be going to the hosting companies server that requires password entry. I think you will find its like that as he never paid his hosting bills & this particular company could be holding his site dormant until he pays them too.

I was told that the torque specs are the same as the FD for the tension bolts as is the pattern... this was per Mr. Lockheed at SR...

yes it would be nice to know the mazda torque pattern for the 20b
not that its a really big deal, if you go up in small enough steps when torque ing
it doesn't really matter.

its not in that book. that book is the service highlights, it explains the operation of the systems, but it doesnt get down to nuts and bolts. its about 70% the same as the fd service highlights which is available in the us

yes i have both the stock computer and a re one.
I have had the car parked for most of this year, kids take up lots of time
all i did to the car this year was to remove the p/s and put in a manual rack
and a new fan setup to keep it cool.
this year what little time i had to play with cars was spent on the rx2
project.
I think i know what the problem is with the 20b boost, but will have
to wait till next year to work on it.

boost problem?
you know. there is never enough.
Once you get used to the 20b making around the 300 mark
after a while it doesn't feel fast, and i am sure if i get it up to 450 ish
after a while it will feel slow again.

looking to get 14 psi with the re computer, the re people say it can
be done, and i have a few ideas to get more air into it.
I need to insure i have the cooling problems taken care of, then i will
put in the ported motor and see what it does.
this all takes time something i may not have for years
later
