wimpy sealed-beam headlights

Lets face it, these old sealed-beam headlights really stink. Does anyone have any suggestions for brightening these things up? Of course *real* HID is the way to go but I don't wanna spend the 5 or 6 or 700 bucks for that. I'm also not so sure about those so-called "DIAMOND HID HEADLIGHTS" that I see on eBay all the time. It would seem to me that these can't have a high-beam setting. true? So has anyone found a good solution that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? TIA

I don't know about the ones you mentioned, but I got a H4 conversion kit with 60/55 watt bulbs and since they are not true HID they have high/low beams. They also have the sweet superwhite look, plus they are way better that stock. They install in about 20 mins at most. I got mine at:
http://www.showparts.com/
just follow the link named "housings/conversion kits"
Only like $45 too! the guy was really nice to work with.
Peace :)

those ones you linked are pretty much like the ones on ebay,
wait till my kit come out,
that will solve the problem.

I like them. What are yours going to be like?

85RX7GS 04-03-02 07:52 AM

I like my sealed beam headlights....well, they're pretty bad at night, so maybe I'll get some better ones. :)

82transam 04-03-02 07:53 AM

Then I guess you don't like them; :)

85RX7GS 04-03-02 08:00 AM

Ok, let me clarify that - I like the look of them, but the beam is insufficient for night driving. There, satisfied? :)

82transam 04-03-02 08:29 AM

Yea but my h4 conversions look pretty much the same :)

There are new super white sealed beams out now. I think Phillips make 'em. They just came out a couple months ago. Same as those h4 conversions, but fully sealed.

For the millionth time:
http://lighting.mbz.org/

Don't touch the crappt almost-HID's, ultra-white, cool blue, or any other chitty gimmicks...

Read up at the site I posted...Then e-mail Dan Stern, the site's owner. He'll hook you up with stuff that will give you the BEST possible quality light.

Trust me...:bigthumb:

Man I said this once and I got slandered for it. The lights really do suck. It will definately be in my list of 'to do's' when I finish this other job :)

smnc 04-10-02 01:28 AM

Dan sold me a nice set of Hella (I think) e-code (european spec) conversions that use H4 (I think) bulbs...

Absolutely amazing!

i agree with you mike.. a new set of lights is definatly on the long list of things to do.. unfortunitally, it is towards the end of my list (damn i have to many things that i want to do to my seven.. but damn will she be sweet if i get them all done)

cpt_gloval 04-10-02 01:55 AM

i replaced 'em with some super-white deals i got from schmucks and then cleaned off the contacts to the headlights. much better.
