Will this start a fire?

I have an 85 GS, my cat has been emptied but my heat shields that bolt to the underside of the car are all rusted. If I remove them will it create to much heat against the floor pan and carpet.

i took mine out and I am running a racing beat setup.

I have yet to experience any problems.

When I mentioned it to a passenger, he said is felt allittle warm.

Don't park on tall dry grass.

Dude you need to call NASA, they got these ceramic tiles they used on the space shuttle you need some of them :) LOL

Actually you'll be ok, just dont park in grass :)

I couldn't keep drinks in plastic bottles in the passenger footwell - they had a tendency to explode from heat.

And that's with header AND heat shields :)

Ive done that before. I parked, got out and smelled something burning, like grass...So I jumped back in my car, started it up, and moved back. I then realized I had started a small brush fire...Oops :). Anyway, I stomped it out, and parked in the gravel. So, the moral of the story is, if you go to the county fair, dont park in the grass parking lots :).

PS - This was with stock exhaust.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? I knew it got warm, but EXPLODE?
Hell, I've made Acid bombs (Muriatic Acid & Aluminum Foil inside plastic bottles) and they are hard to explode even with the chemical reaction within them.

You must run the piss out of that poor 12A!;)

Dry ice bombs are cool too :D.

aluminum shavings in an envelope with a detonator are not cool...

Nor is dumping nitrogen fertilizer into the fuel tank of a diesel truck
