Widebody Kit Were to buy

1 Attachment(s)
So i have been looking at fender flares for my 500hp ford 8.8 build and was gonna just end up doing the ZG flares. In my searching i found this body kit that i have never seen before surprisingly. Andd well lets just say im in love and need to have it. Is there anywhere that makes a rep of it or produces it at all any more???

CarbonRXX 06-24-13 06:34 AM

That looks amazing!!! Sorry I can't help but I had to say it. :D

Siraniko 06-24-13 09:36 AM

I don't think that's a Mariah kit. It's significantly different. The fender flares all bolt on with exposed fasteners and transition smoothly into the sills. The chin spoiler maintains the OEM '81-'85 front fascia.

I definitely prefer the bolt-on version. Whenever composite parts are bonded to steel, cracks are likely to eventually develop. With a bolt-on installation, this problem is avoided.

I think this is the best looking setup I've seen for a 1st gen. I'd like to see it fully painted, with the car sitting at ride height. I'm definitely interested.

DarrenTRS 06-24-13 02:59 PM

The best chance you have is to call JDM Legends and beg for a lead, they had the kit brought over from Japan and said it was incredibly hard to source, the rear wing is from Mariah.

Jhereg 06-24-13 08:13 PM

Yeah, good luck finding info on that one. Really hope you can find it, and if you do, let us know!!! Better have a build thread.

Gorgeous car they made.

IF YOU BUILD IT, WE WILL COME: JDM LEGENDS RX-7 - Speedhunters

lx_machado 06-24-13 09:10 PM

That is the Japanese version of the Group C kit you see on a bunch of AUS cars. The JAP flares are a little wider it seems.

JDM Ledges got the flares and air dam from p40p0, and the wing is from Mariah.

p40p0 sells the flares for just under $400 give or take exchange rates. He seems to not have any listed at the moment.

DarkDrakeX 06-24-13 09:36 PM

What is the p40p0 website? I just googled it but couldent find it. Ill contact them. And im assuming thats 400$ a flare correct?? Thanks for all the info guys.

Nope, its around $400 for all four flares not including shipping. You have a PM.

Mazda RX-7 EFINI TYPE 06-24-13 11:09 PM

You are just like me my friend. This was tied for first as my favourite widebody, I ended up with my other choice. However I was trying to source this kit for a while, and I was speaking to SelectMaz when I found that they made the kit.. Check them out. Hopefully they still make it :)

DreamInRotary 06-25-13 12:52 AM

That is one badass kit! And like you said elwood, having it bolt on is such a nice feature versus doing all that bonding fiberglass to steel work. Would be a sick looking ride when finished, props on the find!

DarkDrakeX 06-25-13 04:08 AM

I just sent selectmaz a enquiry. When i find a source for this kit i will make sure to post up. So much better looking than any fender flares and it doesent seem that hard to make in comparison to normal flares as well. Thanks for all the replies guys.

lx_machado 06-25-13 06:32 AM

Too bad this guy doesn't want to ship to the USA, I have already asked.

RX7 Series 1 2 3 Group C Bodykit | eBay

Siraniko 06-26-13 08:24 PM

my buddy got the same response from them so he went with mariah gtu

Redliner223 06-26-13 11:12 PM

That body kit is a IMSA widebody originally for the '78-'80 SA rx7's. It was purchased off of Yahoo Japan auctions.
The kit was modified slightly to fit around the fb style front bumper.
On their blog he was complaining how the kit didn't fit and he was forced to modify it. -_-
That Rx7 is the shop car for JDM Legends. The owner used to work for Rotary Performance in Garland Tx.

DerrickS 06-27-13 09:04 AM

For those interested, here is the car all painted up.

DarkDrakeX 06-28-13 04:32 AM

Gods i love how this kit looks it really looks amazing painted. Select maz said the company they used to get them from went out of buisness years ago. So there a bust. Looks like im gonna have to either learn japanese or get some of my military friends in japan to source one for me. Too bad they know nothing about cars lol.

Redliner223 06-28-13 12:09 PM

Here is a potential business opportunity for someone out there.
One day I would like one of these kits too.

rotornoob 06-28-13 09:36 PM

I know someone who does a lot of vehicle/parts importing and he is based in japan. I will try to contact him and see if its worth bringing some over..just a quick market test...how many of you will actually buy one if I can get a hold of it?

CarbonRXX 06-29-13 10:57 AM

I could do the moulds if I can put my hands on a sample!

rotornoob 06-29-13 12:14 PM

Heeh ill see what I can do about procuring a sample :)

CarbonRXX 06-29-13 09:57 PM

Let me know if you find anything! info@carbonrx7.com

Just talked with my buddy in japan. He is going to do some research and see if he can locate a full kit or at least the molds. We will see what happens after that.

DarkDrakeX 07-02-13 09:58 PM

I was googling this bodykit and on a AUS forum some1 said they sell this kit @eziglass in Victoria Aus. Im gonna see if i can get in touch with them and see if they ship to america. None of the leads im finding ship to america or anything of the sort.

Been there... its $1,400 for the kit. I believe they said they would ship but last I checked, It was not worth the shipping cost.

rotornoob 11-14-13 12:25 AM

Ok so its been a while, but I was talking with my buddy about this. He can get it and reproduce it for us, but the problem is shipping. Basically it will cost 2-3x the cost of manufacturing them just to ship them.

DarkDrakeX 11-14-13 04:16 AM

Weres your buddy based out of?? I dont mind paying for it as long as its not straight up ridiculous in price. A ballpark would be amazing. Thanks

rotornoob 11-14-13 08:37 PM

He is in kobe. He didn't give me an exact shipping quote but he was very adamant that it was not going to be worthwhile to ship it. Ill get in touch with him and see if he can give me some numbers for the shipping cost.

slamburgalr 11-15-13 11:40 AM

just came across this thread. Wow this kit is a muuuust!!!

I've done a lot of importing of car parts from Japan (mostly JDM Honda stuff) and can second that a body kit would be cost prohibitive to import. Even if the kit cost NOTHING, the cost of shipping would make any sane person balk. Japan Post uses airlines to ship their EMS packages over and the size limitations prevent shipping things like wings, front lips, bumpers, engines, etc.I had to leave a beautiful Mugen front lip in Japan because it would have cost me $450 to get it shipped to me.

The only cost-effective way to get something like a body kit over here would be to buy several and have them shipped on a container.

Jhereg 11-16-13 12:39 AM

I know a guy! JD! Where you at?

Ehime has connections and is already getting parts shipped in a container. He's got some cool stuff coming up

Alfa111 04-13-16 07:09 PM

Any updates? I tried looking up the seller p40p0 on the japanese yahoo auction site and nothing came up.

These look similar but would definitely take finessing:

While that is a nice FD (Third Gen), welcome to the forum, have a read through the FAQs and all that jazz. Edit: on second look I actually don't like that third gen at all.

On another note, you would probably have better luck sourcing a third gen body kit in the third gen section (but maybe not who knows)

Shipping would be expensive to the U.S.. This place is in Queanbeyan, New South Wales.

Bringing this thread back from the dead I see!

I am involved in a long process, wherein there is a distributor in Australia and myself here in the US, looking into importing Group C IMSA widebody kit replicas from Australia to the USA. This won't be happening for a while yet since the replicas still need to be fabricated and tested, then pre-orders and deposits made, final products assembled, shipping from AUS to USA, inspection when arrived, re-packaging and shipment from me to the buyer. It'll be a long drawn-out process, but probably the only way to effectively get a Group C kit in the US.

Pimpy101 06-20-18 11:54 AM

So did this ever come to fruition @DreamInRotary?
