Who wants to go camping in NJ???

August's was a bust because of the hurricane and so ever since the weather has been a bit more predictable...

so i'm seeing who want's to go this month...

Sept. 11th, 18th or 25th?

Camping will be in NJ at Stokes Forest...same deal as the last one that never happened...

Tom 08-27-04 02:02 PM

You teasing me again? ;)

1stand3rd 08-27-04 03:20 PM

I might be able to make the 11th...other dates dont work for me.

1stgen_tn 08-27-04 03:31 PM

Man, I'd love to join you guys. I'm guessing about a 8-9hr drive for me here in East Tennessee though. There are some really cool car shows going on those weekends here in Tennessee (Pigeon Forge) Wouldn't miss 'em for the world.

"Shades of the Past" Sept. 10-12 (pre 1950 only)
"The Grand" Sept. 17-19 (mostly 60's and 70's muscle cars)

Hey, maybe next spring? My seven should be painted and lookin' good by then.

John64 08-27-04 04:01 PM

I can only do the 18th. Going to Seseme Place with the family on the 11th and the wife is out of town on the 25th.
I'm all fired up for this, I can bring the fun stuff and some beer.

Will this be a Friday-Saturday-Sunday thing? I have off that Friday, so I can come down any time that day.

John

inittab 08-27-04 04:10 PM

I added a poll to this thread. Sept 11 works for me all other dates are taken up.

Sterling 08-27-04 07:42 PM

The weekend of the 11th doesn't work for me. I'll be out in Ca @ Sevenstock.

82transam 08-27-04 11:26 PM

so if this is just like the other one that didn't happen does that mean this won't happen either? oooo think about it....
ok or not. As of this moment I don't forsee anything going on any of those weekends, but most everything in my life happens last minute, so the sooner we finalize a date the better off it is for me

Misthael 08-27-04 11:41 PM

I could ask off for the 25th. Anybody wanna buy my plane ticket and a rental car?

Too bad there's no way I can make it to this or Sevenstock. Oh well. Hope it happens this time. Take lots of pics.

bizarro 08-28-04 01:53 AM

so far the 11th and 18th are neck and neck...we'll need more votes! btw, thanx inittab for making it a poll

enigma32 08-28-04 08:11 PM

Wow... I might actually be able to make it this time...
I'll see what's going on with my fall production, and check out the schedule at work, and post again soon....

John64 09-06-04 10:49 AM

Well has there been a dession?

The 18th still works good, Maybe we can do early Oct, when the weather cools some?/

John

82transam 09-06-04 03:20 PM

yea has anything new been decided? I'm pretty flexible, but I know for a fact taht I can't get there till saturday sometime, I have school all day (literally sunup to sundown) on fridays and theres no way I'll be awake for anything. And like john said, why are we limiting ourselves to these 3 days? October is one of the best months of the year imo

bizarro 09-07-04 12:52 AM

Okay guys...18th it is...i'll call the campsite tomorrow and have things setup...Tom's gonna go too...bring your family, friend...whoever can fit in the passenger seat :D

82transam 09-07-04 10:11 AM

so is the plan still a 2 nighter or what?

bizarro 09-07-04 10:19 AM

I say 2 nighter...what do you guys say?

Tom 09-07-04 11:48 AM

2 days is mucho better than 1 for me.

Sterling 09-07-04 04:34 PM

Yeah, I agree. If we're gonna go through so much to get everyone's schedules coinciding, as well as have some folks travel so far, then we should make it a two nighter.
-Besides, that creates more opportunity for others with less flexible schedules that might be able to show up just for one day.

I still cannot commit quite yet.
(IhopeIhopeIhope.:D )

John64 09-07-04 06:11 PM

So are we talking about Friday/Saturday! So the 17th and 18th! I might just be able to do one night, leaving the wife for two night with two kids spells death for me. So I can make it Friday night and hang to about 4 or so the next day.

John

82transam 09-07-04 08:51 PM

theres no way I'll make friday night, but I could probably come pretty early saturday and stay from then so that works for me

Tom 09-07-04 09:35 PM

Well, as Bizzaro knows- I have recently been 'gifted' with some extremely tender wild boar meat. If everyone is ok with some fresh marinated and grilled wild boar, I'll be more than happy to bring it along.

What do y'all say to wild boar, corn on the cob, some fresh bread and beer for a Saturday dinner?

Also- I'll bring the same stuff as before with the addition of split and dried firewood (no axe this time ;) )

Oh yeah- How many folks are bringing wives and kids?

bizarro 09-07-04 09:42 PM

...starting friday afternoon till sunday evening i'm figuring...what do you guys think? some of you coming from afar can leave work early ;)

either way it has to be decided...i'm calling tomorrow afternoon

Tom 09-07-04 09:44 PM

I can leave Friday early morning and get there around lunch. Would leave around noon on Sunday..

Sterling 09-07-04 11:04 PM

Definitely bring the boar! :D

Tom 09-08-04 08:09 AM

82transam 09-08-04 10:09 PM

yes bring the boar. And i forgot I work sunday mornings now, and even though I could get out of it I need the money, so its looking like I'll just be there on Saturday. should still be a fun time though

jutny 09-09-04 02:32 PM

well guys, i hate to say this...

but i have $236 to my name right now, and my insurance payment of slightly more than that is due on the 20th... so as of this moment i'm dismayed to say that i wont be showing up.

fuck, i hate this, i have to go to Rochester this weekend (supposed to be there last weekend... but i had to go to Jersey to do some work for my mother) to salvage what little there is left of my relationship with this girl (and to get some ass, but thats kind of secondary)... and i cant afford the gas money to go do that (let alone feeding myself while i'm there)... so i cant do that

:( depressed is a good word to describe me now, i knew this was gonna happen, i just didnt want it to happen until the next few weeks after seeing my girl and friends, and after the camping trip.... cause then i can bust my ass at work for a couple of weeks and make the money.

:(

XCros 09-10-04 09:27 AM

Damn lol, guess its too late to petition for the 25th eh?

John64 09-12-04 12:50 PM

So who's bringing what? Where do we meet and what time???
Directions again, please?

John

bizarro 09-12-04 07:08 PM

I'll have all that info for you and everyone else tomorrow...I PROMISE ;)

XCros...you should definately come! no better way for a new member to join the club than by meeting some of us!

NC isn't that far...what...an 8 hour drive? shoot...you can leave friday afternoon (if you don't work leave earlier) and you'll be just in time for a game of football! :D

Tom 09-13-04 05:55 AM

Well, for all the fair-weather campers out there the extended forecast does not look too promising. 50% chance of rain on Saturday with a probability Ivan remnants will give the mid-atlantic a drenching during the weekend.

Still pretty early to tell but I would venture to guess no one would want to camp in heavy rains.

bizarro 09-13-04 08:24 AM

http://www.w3.weather.com/weather/local/07826

DANG IT! rain for that whole weekend!!! :(

What do you guys wanna do? Rain or shine? I can't the weekend after because I'm having a party for my son

John64 09-13-04 11:33 AM

If we have to change I can work around it. The 25th does not work. Lets try for mid Oct.

John

Funny I just checked and Sat and Sun were fine.

82transam 09-13-04 06:59 PM

makes no difference to me. Any weekend between now and the end of the semester (mid december) are the same, so I could only go saturday during the day for any of them. Whatever you guys wanna do is fine with me

jutny 09-13-04 10:48 PM

let me know what we're doin... i can do whatever, but would prefer not doing it in the rain :)

John64 09-14-04 05:01 AM

Bizzaro, just checked out that site. It only says a 30% chance of rain. So can we make a dession on what we are doing????

John

82transam 09-14-04 10:25 AM

yea its like 3 days away, we gotta decide something, it says possible showers, i don't know if that should stop us. whats everyone think?

Tom 09-14-04 11:10 AM

Well in my case it really all depends on the track of Ivan over the weekend at my house. When Frances came through, over 11" of rain fell just one county over to the west of us.. Lotsa flooding.
It's still too early to have a balls on accurate forecast, but every indication looks like Ivan follows the spine of the Appalachians, right to my back door. :(

Sterling 09-14-04 11:40 AM

Well, I just got back from Ca., and that was alot to ask of my Mrs. in the first place. She wants me to pretend I'm an integral part of our family this weekend, which means at the very best possible, I might be able to squeeze a day-drive to spend only a few hours with everyone.

I'm up for an October thingy. Besides, the warmth of brotherhood that you think will make you tough enough to endure the cold rain of night leaves you when you ente your tent within about the first 1/2 hour of freezing your wet ass off as you try to fall asleep!

Tom 09-14-04 12:20 PM

I am much more fond of brisk October nights when camping, anyway. Don't worry- I won't eat all the boar meat!

John64 09-14-04 12:57 PM

So lets make it for the first weekend in October then. I'm actually off that Friday so it works well. Lets vote on that.

John

82transam 09-14-04 10:12 PM

sounds good to me. poor hector's plans got fucked up again, don't kill us man ;)

Sterling 09-14-04 10:58 PM

Ehh.
Fuck 'em.

:D
Poooooor Hector. Initially pays for the site, calls everyone, brings stuff, organizes everything, and what's he get for it all?
No respect, I tell ya! He gets no respect! :p:

bizarro 09-15-04 12:58 AM

okay so first weekend of october...that would be October 1st, 2nd and 3rd

damn rain

then after that we will all put our cars in hibernation! :) (watch it snow that weekend  )

Tom 09-15-04 07:33 AM

I'll check my day planner to see if I'm available.
(aka- Call Christine and get permission!)

John64 09-15-04 09:40 AM

Yeah, I can do the 1st and 2nd. Hopefully the weather will work out, come on today is 68degrees. Nice fall ride in the 7, what can be better.

John

Hector, sorry the weather keeps f--king this up.

jutny 09-15-04 10:45 AM

first weekend in october is no good for me, i've got a barn to build starting on the 29th....

and if i can get away from that at all, i kinda have to make an appearance in Rochester for my girl's birthday on the 7th.

John64 09-22-04 08:10 PM

Bump!
So what is the outcome? When do you think this will happen?

Lets get the ball rolling and hope the RX7 Gods don't rain on this one.

John

82transam 09-22-04 08:21 PM

like before I can only come saturday, but I'm up for the first weekend of october

John64 09-25-04 08:02 PM

Bump! So who's going and what date?
