I think you're overly estimating what you're gonna be able to fit under the car, why on earth do you need to run such a wide wheel anyway? a 16x8 and 16x8.5 -6et is about as perfect as it gets for fitment if you're looking to run "stance". If you're just looking to run a ton of rubber without reason, then I suggest measuring your wheel well in front and back and doing the calculations.

hey guys the pics you saw where actuaclly the molds on the car , the ones im uploading now are the actual flares trimmed to shape and bolted on for fittment only , they will be molded later . if anybody is interested in getting some flares , i have the molds , so pm me and i'll get back to you .
anyways i'll keep you updated on progress as it comes . the pics im putting up now are as of saturday. as for the wheels i got 16x10 in the back and 16x8 in the front , keep in mind the the front are +15 offset and we had to trim some of the fenders in the front to clear when turning , so for the guy who is looking to put even wider prepare to chop alot of your fenders |
oh by the way i have a set of zg flares for sale , that is what i started with and then it evolved to what we see now . lol
|
i also had to trim a lot of the rear part of my front fenders to clear for turning. Those flares and Mitsu wheels loook great. Cant wait to see it finished.

11" wide rims is widebody fender territory as opposed to flares.
|
xxr has some decently wide tires in decent offsets. I cant imagine being able to fit it though. 8-9 inch would be plenty of grip already!
Not to thread jack, but we've got all the right people in here anyways... has anybody tucked an 8" wheel in the back without flares or wb? I'm looking at a 17x8 +35 for the back, but it'll be tight... |

. And I believe they are 205s judging by the stretch but I'm not sure.

yeah I wanna know more about fitment of the 8" wheels.
|
I think I would go with 15x9's with 225x45x15. I prefer a smaller overall outside diameter though.
Maybe 15x8.5, RS watanabe. http://www.watanabewheel.com/products.htm On the expensive side though. |

i had 16x8 +50 offsett on my car with no problem under stock fenders , now if i did my math right you should be able to fit an 8 inch up to +25 with no problems, and by the way i was using 225 50 16 tires
by the way this the link to the original thread https://www.rx7club.com/south-rx-7-forum-34/wide-body-i-guess-939119/ |

Sure does! thanks! +49 is more than I thought I would be able to run. You didn't use a spacer eh?
|
+49? I was thining more along the lines of +10 would rub at 8" Since this thread is spiraling could someone give me a clear answer. with the rear disks how much backspace is there on the rear? I hear 5" all around but sounds like there is more room in the rear than the front. thanks
|
rotaryboy23 - i didnt have to use a spacer. however, i am running the same rim in the front and that required a spacer to clear the coilover assembly. i'll try to post a pic for you. if you didnt know, the SE's can tolerate higher offsets.
dream36realms - i'm sure you know this, but lower offsets will bring the tire closer to the fender and higher offsets bring it closer to the inside (closer to the shock and spring). i did a quick measurement of how much backspacing there is on my car (GSL-SE). it came close to 7" of available space for additional rubber. there is definitely more room in the back compared to the front. |
Thanks hoang####. Helpful info. I knew the offsets were different, but I thought the rear end would be the same width. I'll be running 2nd gen stuff up front, and either re-drilled axles in the back or adapters... I've already bought the adapters, but I'm leaning towards re-drilled now if I can tuck the 8" w/+35. Staggered wheels w/polished lip ftw.

as promised... excuse the camera phone pics. they are not the best. i forgot to mention that i did the 5 lug conversion (i dont think this changes the offsets). the fronts stick out a big more then the rear due to spacers required to make them fit. i plan on doing the zg flares when i get a chance. i am kind of hesitant to do it cuz i feel bad cutting into the fenders. :dunno:

looks good Hoang. i plan on getting new wheels in the future. I just settled with the ones i have now because i got a good deal. I was originally looking for 15x9s in the rear and to run a fatter tire like 225s. I cant run anything bigger than a 205 right now. 215 maybe, but id have to raise the car and i dont wanna do that
|
OK thanks. my car is not a SE so I am unable to figure it out. Anyway from what you shown and posted I think I am good. My wheels are 17x9 and 17x10 both +35. I was thinking of selling them due to the size of spacers I would need but they should tuck nicely. I am not worried about hitting the fender due to going WB eventually and flares until I get the parts in.
