What do you guys think of my stereo pocket

This took me about 4 hours...with none of the right tools...it isn't done but i'm really close...all thats left is the right trim...i don't really like the weather stripping there...

What do you guys think?

Neat job man, good stuff

RotaryRyan 05-10-04 10:31 PM

How did you go about doing that?

bizarro 05-10-04 10:38 PM

well...first i used the original bracket...went through 2 drill bits drilling the new screw holes for the stereo...

then i used sheet metal to cut and form a pocket underneath...that was the tough part...

then i used black felt to clean up the pocket...i still have to find something else to clean up the trim...that weather strip isn't doing it for me :(

RotaryRyan 05-10-04 10:39 PM

Hmmmm. Nifty

GavinJuice 05-10-04 11:12 PM

Hey that looks nice, would it be possible for you to extend that aluminum pocket forwards more and just wrap the felt around the edge and tuck it behind the radio benzel? I just quick shopped this, but like so....http://img15.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMG_0172.jpg

bizarro 05-10-04 11:31 PM

trust me when i say it is a TIGHT FIT and isn't easy to get it to fall all into place...

it isn't done yet...i'm still working out the trim and fit...but its better than before :D

check it out...

Nice clean job. But what r ugoing to put in that empty slot

bizarro 05-10-04 11:38 PM

cd's or whatever fits...i wanted it more for the clean finish than something functional..if that were the case i would have attempted to make a cup holder in it...(that is still posible)

RotaryRyan 05-11-04 12:03 AM

Dont you hate when the shifter knobs turn faded and yellow

GavinJuice 05-11-04 12:05 AM

Yea my now looks like your before. I'll eventually do something.

Pele 05-11-04 12:12 AM

Good ingenuity... It's lookin nice and probably gonna look great when you deal with the weatherstripping. :bigthumb:

bizarro 05-11-04 09:10 AM

i decided that this will be my version 1.0...in other words...i'm gonna make another and use the right tools and better measuring

i'll also put up the measurments and a pictorial howto if anyones interested...
