What cool 1st Gen Mazda stuff do you have?

I just got this in the mail. It was gift from Mazda in the 80's for filling out the survey on your vehicle.

Lets see some other cool 80's mazda stuff....

That's some pretty slow mail service for where you at, man. You did the survey in the 80's and you're just NOW getting that trinket? ;)

And, to keep it on topic, I have no cool '80's stuff. Just a rotor keychain.

Yellow '79 09-19-06 08:11 PM

i have a first gen cake pan, it makes a regular cake trast/look better!:)

steve84GS TII 09-19-06 08:15 PM

I got a 1st gen (SA to be precise) plastic model.
Its the pretty common one,Ertle I think. It came in red,so it was easy to paint it up to match my car (red/black stock body, prior to widebody)
A little chop of the suspension and some wheels/tires off another model, and I have an exact replica of my car.......sorry no pics.

MattG 09-19-06 08:17 PM

Dang you filled it out then, and your just now getting it lol

I got this cool shirt!

DriftFB 09-19-06 09:46 PM

^A guy, not to be mentioned, ripped off my design and started producing them, theres a thread on it, search for Rx-7 art.

As for my stuff, I have the old 1st gen Rx-7 Transformer Camshaft, a 1:24 scale diecast model I found around. And an original Rx-7 club keyfob from the '80's when the club was just a monthly mailing.

KeloidJonesJr. 09-19-06 10:03 PM

How lovely, I want one.

perfect_circle 09-19-06 10:25 PM

WTF is a fob, it was mentioned in the thread about door locks as well.... beside today ive never even heard the word....off to google i go.

i <3 google...A key fob is a type of security token: a small hardware device with built-in authentication mechanisms.

DriftFB 09-19-06 10:41 PM

my key fob is just a little tear shaped piece of leather, with a metal piece attached that says Rx-7.

Sort of like the one pictured.

79rx_7 09-19-06 11:30 PM

I have the May 1978 Road & Track with RX-7 as the cover story, and a November 1979 Road & Track "Street Mazda RX-7 vs IMSA RX-7" full road test.

perfect_circle 09-19-06 11:54 PM

oh sweet, you should scan that up, so we can all see/read it.

Rx7carl 09-19-06 11:57 PM

I have a key fob and a decal from the original Rx-7 club. The one before the intarweb. When it was bi-monthly newsletters (which I only got one cause they went under after that lol). And I have lots of models and matchbox cars and stuff like that. Oh and I have a cool diecast of a 1st gen that won a Nurburgring<sp> race. It was a kit that has a nice diecast 1st gen with addons to make the kit. Decals and diecast extras like a racing bodykit and such. I dont want to build it so as to keep its collectability. I just display it with all my other 1st gen stuff in the living room. :D

FirebirdSlayer666 09-20-06 12:07 AM

You should post some pics of that stuff Carl LOL. The only 1st gen stuff I have is the FB itself and all the parts LOL. I did just get my very first die cast RX-7, though it's an FD, but it adds some Rotary flavor to my vast collection

boyee 09-20-06 12:14 AM

i have a mint condition september 1981 motor trend that features a FB turbo, red, with ground effects, deep dish epsilons. if anyone wants scans ill try and see what i can do

FirebirdSlayer666 09-20-06 12:32 AM

Scan it up and show it

DriftFB 09-20-06 01:05 AM

Well, if we count crusty old magazines, and such, I also have a motortrend with a tribute to the SA/FB in the back. They give it some kind words, and a Japanese book called "Rx-7 Tribute" Has some awesome photos from the 1979-2002 cars, race cars, and production based race cars.

I'll have to scan some of the pictures in that, it has a cool little side view of a FB that shows in a little wave under the car exactly where all the weight is. You'll have to see it.

Siraniko 09-20-06 01:12 AM

of course my 75 mazda RX-3 SP conversion.

boyee 09-20-06 01:16 AM

scans!

FirebirdSlayer666 09-20-06 01:29 AM

Very sweet. Now I have a target goal on 1/4 mile times for my bone stock S LOL

boyee 09-20-06 01:44 AM

boyee 09-20-06 01:55 AM

Yeah, I feel guilty for having it. He gave it to me for free and I had no idea that he ripped it from ya. He posted a thread that the owner of a FD & FB got a won free prize and thats how I came about the T-Shirt.

Yeah I like that kit I just met a guy a couple weeks ago in the process of finishing his up. Its the Pacifis Avatar sp? wide body.

I have the '82 & '83 factory brochures but nothing special.

Rotor Nut 09-20-06 12:43 PM

I got a couple of issues of Rotoary Rocket magazine. They were my dad's and he got like 1 year free subscription when he got his 7 in 81

Don't feel guilty, I don't care at all, it's not like you knew the whole situation when you got that as a gift. I just get bummed cause I trusted a fellow Rx owner and then he went behind my back and did that. And then while I am workin on getting the real ones made every one is asking about the "fake ones". Just motivation for me to get going on them I guess.

jfachner72 09-20-06 02:37 PM

Lets see some stuff that actually came from Mazda.

I also have a 1984 Mazda collectibles catalog with Mazda tee shirts and Rx-7 gloves and such.

I will scan that tonite.

Does anyone have any original dealership material?

I have my Finance contract from Nov 1983.

Lets see some pics guys.

Rotarheads
more pics of stuff-
-sample of one of my NOS spare wheel/tire combos
(have 4 but would never run them on the road! Need a showroom or museum or something :)
-2nd set of euro-spec mirrors: these are the FB electric ones, brand new, that european and JDM RX7s got (they dumped the fender mirrors ion Japan in 83 I believe)
-haven't had the nerve to drill the holes to mount the spoiler!! So it and a spare sit in storage :(
-funky SA/JDM mirror switches. Found that my car was pre-wired to fit them!!
-also have a full set of NOS rotor and side irons for my SA, but they still reside in europe, so no pics, yet (friend there works for Mazda europe and was able to get them from Japan for me. He also got me the 5-speed rotary-shaped shifter, since the base RX8 in Europe came with the 5-speed)

They must not have been trying too hard to only hit 17.8 in the quarter. My bone stock '84 went 17.23 @ 82 mph on a humid night. Side step the clutch at 6500 rpm, grab second gear real quick and don't miss third!

I have the original bill of sale, The owners manual, The booklet that tells you where every mazda dealership in the united states it. The little folder the dealership gives you to hold your title and registration. A really cool retro keychain that says Rx-7 in the same font as the emblems on the fenders. And it is superimposed on a factory aluminum wheel. And a Chiltons manual that only covers 1979-1982. A pile or Pacific Magizines, all have the previously shown red turbo FB, the "Pacific Turbo Option" and a bunch of Rotary engineering mags. Oh and the Pacific magazines I got out of a '79 that had the Pacific 2+2 backseat. Thats all I can think of right now....
