Question welded diff?

so i did a search and i saw the same answers to this question every time. the same people too, and they always go a little of track. I wanted to know what people think about a locked welded rear diff. this would be for the road course only and NOT for street or drag!!
Is this a stupid idea or could it work out to make a great driver faster? (not me )

GSL-SE's came with LSD's so I doubt many people owning them would do this.

My opinion is that if you feel you want to try this, go for it. It may be fine in a race application, but, I bet you would be happier with a LSD or Torsen setup, for street use.

Ill put in my two bits on this one. I used to see a silvia in japan that had the diff welded. He could run a 1/4 mile like a mad dog. he could barly turn a corner. you could hear the tires breaking traction to turn.
So if your planning on 1/4 mile only I would say its ok. If your planning a road course i would advice against it. I figure that the diff is welded then the wheels are forced to turn at the same rotation when you are turning the wheels turn in a slight different rotation one faster than the other. normally a LSD will slip a little to compensate hence the name limited slip diff. If you weld it and run a track cource tires get hotter and stickier the next thing in line to break would be the axles. hard to finish the race that way but you still could because you have one axle working with the welded diff.

Theres my two cents keep the change
