Vacuum hose information needed.

ok so today i went and just looked at my 79 rx7 and tried to figure out why is wasnt running properly and once everything was said and done the car ended up with no carb and about zero vacuum lines:dunno:
oh and also the rats nest made me mad so that also is now off the car and now i need to know witch vacuum lines i need and the ones that i dont. also i heard there was some guy on this forum that is like the jesus of rebuilding carbs? and i need to know his name because i need to rebuild my carb unless someone has a carb that is working right and is tuned for no vaccum lines and would like to get rid of it for a reasonable price

spottedfrog 08-28-09 10:56 PM

haha thats funny i was just looking at your thread before you sent me the link:lol:
anyways wich vacuum lines did you keep?

rx-7ames 08-28-09 11:00 PM

I don't know about the rats nest on the '79. Searching might produce results. There should be info in the FAQ section that will help. The carb guru you speak of is Sterling. He mods stock Niki carbs and makes them awesome.

ok i definatly need his help but his name on here is just sterling?

Jeezus 08-28-09 11:16 PM

Yes, just sterling.

IIRC you will just have 2 (or 3) lines needed. One for brake booster, one for crankcase vent, and one for vacuum advance of the dizzy. You don't really need the last as long as you set it up.

Also removed air pump and Anti after burn.

Wanted to add that the nipple on the bottom rear of the manifold is mischievous and likes to pop off. Its almost impossible to see and it wears out vac caps like crazy because of the exhaust heat and the large diameter of the nipple. I'm still unsure of the best fix short of soldering on a copper plumbing cap.

...I'll be sure to convey that to my good friend who co-authored that tutorial. But I doubt he'll wanna jump right up and go take better pictures just for you, since he didn't write for every moron who's either too cheap to buy a car manual or too lazy to look up the information on the Internet to take care of their carb idling issues.

Jeezus is one of the more helpful folks around here, but like me (and many others here), he has little patience for newcomers who refuse to look anything up for themselves, let alone even get up and go look at the carburetor before responding to the thread again.

Most certainly a "thank you" is in order for spottedfrog for going far beyond the call of helpful member in holding your hand.
