V-mount with vented hood teaser pics (project on hold for winter)
 

Well, winter is officially here in MN and the TII project is on hold till probably April. But I did make some real progress on the body and got the hood about 75% done. Still need a bit of fiberglass work, filler and paint, but overall I'm real happy how it turned out.

That looks great! Any pics of the underside? Any issues with the hood flexing?

It was surprisingly still quite stiff after the initial cutting. After fitting the sides, fiberglassing them and then bolting/gluing the oak door trim (for shape) on there, it was back to factory stiffness. It still needs some more fiberglass, and I plan to fill some space on the bottom with bondo glass, which should improve rigidity as well.

Very nicely done. Do you have any pics that show the rad clearly?

I like the look, does the air flow naturally move out thru the top?

Very interesting, and it looks like you do meticulous work.

If you're going to leave the wood in there as a subform, make sure it's glassed up 100% sealed air and watertight; otherwise it will swell with moisture/temperature and crack your glass from the inside.

Its design is based more on the fact that I already had the intercooler and radiator. It just ended up turning out just about perfect. What is not shown in the earlier pics is the chamfer of one corner of the rad to clear the air cleaning pipe. but thats it I think.

I have sort of tested airflow with a leaf blower with good results, but nothing is certain till its on the road. All airflow will be ducted and controlled, and there is a fan on the radiator. This is part of the reason I added the wood to shape a diffuser on there to add a draft to pull air through. The body kit (pictured in another thread) has a large center opening which will be ducted to the coolers, the right and left fog light opening will be ducted to the wheel wells for brake cooling.

Thanks for all the compliments. I was hoping to have her on the road by fall, but a toddler can change plans quickly. Springtime is all but certain. It will be shook down and then tuned at Turblown here in Minnesota.
