upgrading apex seals.

I will be rebuilding my engine this winter and I am collecting parts.

What are the stock seals made of? iron or steel.

I wonder because I always thought they were Iron and that the steel ones handled High rpms better.

I need to know so I can order as many parts from the dealer I work at to save money.

Your thinking of carbon seals that seal better at high rpm, but also seal worse at lower rpm. I have a 12a bridgeport that nessassates carbon seals. If you have mildport, stock seals are fine. They are all steel. I'm located here in minnesota, send me a PM and I'll elaberate.

Stock seals are iron if I'm not very much mistaken... Steel is too hard...

the ones on mazdatrix are steel or carbon.

im not sure if I want to go carbon because of the low sealing at low speeds and that they dont last as long.

Wacky rotary told me his have lasted a fairly long time and only failed cause he was messing with the timing.

But like I said. MAzdatrix offers steet seals and carbon seals but I didnt see iron ones.

Only bridgeports and Perpheral ports nessessate carbon seals. That is a question you must answer first what are you building portwise/turbowise/nitriouswise/costwise. Then you will get the seals you need. Iron ones don't exsist.. ??
Steel is what is in your engine right now. unless its apart.
